You must
- be unemployed through no fault of your own;
- be able to work and available for work at the time you file your initial claim for UI benefits; and,
- be monetarily eligible for benefits.
- To be monetarily eligible, you must have worked and earned sufficient wages during the standard base period or alternate base period The standard base period is the first four of the last five completed calendar quarters before the claim effective date.
What do I need to file my claim?
List A:
- U.S. Passport
- Foreign Passport
- Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card
- Form I-766, Employment Authorization Card
List B:
- Driver’s License Issued by U.S. State or Territory
- Photo ID Issued by a Federal, State, or Local Government Agency
- Voter Registration Card
- Native American Tribal Document
- Driver’s License Issued by a Canadian Government Authority
List C:
- Social Security Card
- Birth Certificate
