To effectively and efficiently setup, operate manual welding equipment at Argon Industries.

Position Responsibilities

Shop Specific :

Understand that every employee at Argon Industries has the right and the obligation to stop production and contact a

supervisor immediately if they deem it to be unsafe and if they have any quality concerns

Read, interpret and understand blueprints and drawings

Identify appropriate materials for the job, including the ability to check the type, size, quantity, quality and maintain

traceability

Qualify and then safely operate a forklift

Properly utilize inspection equipment to accurately complete the job in accordance with ISO procedures

Understand and adhere to Argon’s Employee Quality Policy & Requirements

Perform basic machine maintenance along with keeping the necessary records and reporting any issues immediately to your supervisor.

Complete jobs to customer specifications in a timely manner

Watch and anticipate potential problems

Correctly barcode, count and tag parts and document work performed on the traveler

Maintain an orderly and clean work area at all times

Job Specific :

Learn and follow all procedures associated with the welding department, including customer and other specifications

AWS)

MIG-able to weld mild steel from 20 gage to ¼ in multiple positions, pressure tested, cosmetic appearance a must

Able to identify / read weld symbols and weld per print, customer requirements and other welding specifications (AWS),

Materials include mild steel, stainless, aluminum, etc ranging from ¼ to 24 gage.

Optimize / reduce setups, welding sequences and processes to maximize productivity, safety and quality (eliminating scrap)

Responsible for prototypes, new jobs, highly cosmetic / difficult jobs, etc

Review estimates, projects and jobs with sales, estimating and engineering to determine capability, run times, fixturing, etc

Design and / or build welding fixtures, checking fixtures and templates

Able to identify and install the proper wire rod per job / customer requirements

Able to properly setup the machine per job / customer requirements

Properly maintain, record and handle material, quality records, components, inventory, time, tooling, supplies, etc

Train / Review new and existing employees

All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Kohler Power Group Welding Bootcamp will review the following competencies :

Learn how to set up and use a variety of welding equipment e.g. Oxy-Acetylene gas, GTAW and Plazma.

Learn how to test product reliability and integrity.

Learn how to weld to proper dimensions and to meet general requirements

Able to understand blueprints, drawings, job layouts and sketches

Able to fit, position and weld a variety of items e.g. frames, tanks, pipes, production

Skills / Requirements

Specific Requirements :

Candidate must apply and be accepted at Moraine Park Tech College Bootcamp .

Candidate must be able to attend classes 4 days a week at a MPTC location and 1 day of hands on at Saukville location.

General Requirements :

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Ability to follow direction and work in a team environment required.

An understanding of welding fundamentals preferred.

Basic welding experience and / or training preferred.

Working towards apprenticeship or certification preferred.

Ability to drive forklift and operate overhead cranes preferred.

Must be able to lift at least 35-50lbs

Must be at least 18 years old

The welder position is responsible for following daily or weekly work directions from team leads / supervisors, following all safety protocols and keeping materials flowing in the plant.

Aluminum Welder Responsibilities :

  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions utilizing either GMAW or GTAW.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding
  • Prepare all material surfaces to be welded in accordance with cleanliness and bevel requirements
  • Cut aluminum extrusions to length as needed using saws
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors
  • Examine workpieces for defects and ensure conformance with specifications
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment
  • Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
  • Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required
  • Maintain welding equipment
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality requirements are met
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torches, and hand tools

The qualified candidate will have :

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, including the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

This position performs operations necessary to assemble, fit, weld, and test complete assemblies to comply with ASME code requirements for gas and refrigerant process piping.

The finished product must meet or exceed customer specifications and production quality standards.
