Valfair Construction is in search of a welder to join the Fence Crew. The welder will work directly under the Fence Crew Superintendent and will weld fence materials according to the job site specifications along with directions from the job site supervisor.

• Experience with stick welding on iron and galvanized steel
• Fencing install on multiple job sites
• Fabricating fencing materials to meet job needs
• Properly follows company safety procedures. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, superintendent, safety director or HR manager.
• Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment.

Overview

Performs all aspects of track maintenance welding work; specifically alignment and setup of rail for bond welding as well as finish grinding;

setup for frog, switchpoint, and rail end welding, by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining, repairing, and constructing track; directs and instructs operator of equipment assigned to gangs; instructs employees under his supervision in the safe performance of work and sees that they comply with all applicable rules and instructions;
• responsible for training welder helper to provide productive relief for position; sees that all tools, materials, and supplies are safely stored and properly used;
• utilizes and maintains assigned equipment in accordance with instructions; prepares and maintains payrolls, production reports, accident and injury reports, personnel reports, and all other required records;

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, OR REGISTRATIONS

Must have Class B commercial driver's license, motor car permit, FRA 213.7 A & B certification, and Roadway Worker Safety certification.

Upon employment, new hire must successfully complete and pass all FEC Rules Classes : Safety, Operating, and Roadway Worker.

Must complete all requirements to obtain FRA A & B certifications and pass test within 60 days.

POSITION DESCRIPTION : Performs welding in the maintenance, repair, and replacement of various highway structures and facilities, including overhead signs, structures, guardrails, handrails, elements of drainage structures, and other elements related to highway structures and facilities.

Preheats, cleans, cuts, fits, and welds metal components in the manufacturing and repair of structures, fleet equipment, buildings and other department owned and operated assets.

Operates and maintains a wide variety of mechanized equipment such as automotive, pickups, and vans as required and related to the maintenance and repair of highway structures and facilities, while following safety procedures.

Prepares surfaces and applies protective coatings to manufactured or repaired metal products. Operates met cutting saws, metalizing gun, hydraulic punch, plasma cutter, drill press, all types of welding equipment and other associated tools.

Selects materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for required work and prepares requisitions and price quotes for purchases according to purchasing guidelines.

Purchases parts and supplies as a purchasing card holder and is accountable for proper processing of invoices and completion of required paperwork and work orders.

Unloads raw materials and loads completed products utilizing forklifts and other associated tools.
