We are currently searching for a Warehouse Manager to be based out of our Cartersville, GA location. Reporting to the Regional Distribution Center Manager, this person will manage and coordinate all warehouse functions for the Cartersville, GA location, including safety programs, receiving, storage, picking, and shipping.
The DC operation is presently 24 hours across three shifts M-F, with occasional Saturday work. This position will lead a department of approximately 5 salary and 60-80 hourly employees.
This is a critical, and high-profile role leading the newest Distribution Center in Atkore. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of warehouse and logistics experience, with 7 years at the management level.
Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is desired.
What you’ll do :
- Work closely with our Customer Service, Manufacturing, Demand Planning and Corporate Transportation departments, this position will oversee the day-to-day distribution, warehousing, and fulfillment operations by maintaining and enhancing existing standards.
- Ensure the highest standards achieved in the distribution center in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Drive consistency and cost reduction through the creation and implementation of standard work.
- Create, implement, and manage distribution center KPI’s.
- Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams in Kaizen and Lean.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to investigate service failures, and develop, implement, and monitor appropriate corrective and preventative action.
- Develop and manage distribution center, inventory & transportation workforce with performance assessments, professional development coaching, etc.
- Develop and implement processes to improve the Commercial Metrics, Atkore’s measure of on-time delivery.
What you’ll bring :
- Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of warehouse and logistics experience, with 7 years at the management level.
- 5-7 years of experience managing a distribution facility with responsibility for a budget of $12-15MM.
- Experience managing employee relations in a unionized environment.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with WMS, JDE and RF Smart highly desired.
- Experience with lean and six sigma processes and / or Lean / Six Sigma certification desired.
Within 3 months, you’ll :
- Complete the Atkore Immersion program.
- Learn the Atkore Business System and how we use LEAN principles in running our business.
- Develop a thorough understanding of JDE / RF-Smart as related to warehouse transactions.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the local collective bargaining agreement and how to apply as needed.
Within 6 months, you’ll :
- Know and understand Atkore’s Strategic Summary and how your role contributes to the Strategic Deployment Process.
- Lead individual development plans with warehouse supervisors to enhance their performance.
- Participate in a Kaizen event relevant to your scope of work to improve or develop a new process.
Within 12 months, you’ll :
- Contribute ideas in process improvement including KPI’s of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Visit at least 2 of our network RDCs to collaborate on strategy and understand other regional market needs.
- Collaborate with RDC support team to push network wide improvement initiatives.

Warehouse Operations Clerk
The Warehouse Operations Clerk is responsible for ensuring that all shipping related documents are completed accurately and in a timely fashion.
This position reports to Operations Supervisor or Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Communicates via email with outbound carriers daily, providing schedules for outbound shipments and equipment needs.
- Communicates through various media with site personnel, essential information to ensure operations are meeting requirements
- Receive all drivers and provide direction for outbound shipments.
- Using a warehouse management system, systemically open / close shipments and prepare accurate bills of lading for outbound freight.
- Ensure that drivers depart with appropriate paperwork.
- Ensure the accuracy of all shipping documents by strict adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Gather, enter into the warehouse management system, and maintain all data and records relative to shipping activities.
- Assist in resolving any discrepancies.
- Assists in Material Handling duties such as receiving, put-away, picking, packing, or loading.
- Actively monitors trailer capacity and proactively works with spotters on trailer moves.
- Assists with other administrative duties as needed by the leadership team.
- Files all outbound paperwork so that it is easily accessible when needed.
- Maintains seal log accurately with necessary information.
- Maintains the load board with accurate information.
- May require they communicate work assignments such as appointments to receive, doors to load, items to pick, etc.

Requirements :
- High School diploma or GED required
- Experience in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Experience with (Manhattan) Warehouse Management System preferred
- Computer applications using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint).
- Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
- Good visual acuity to inspect shipments.
- Good finger dexterity to input data into inventory records.
- Ability to input data on the computer to create a daily inventory report.
- Accuracy in recordkeeping and in sorting, checking, counting, and verifying items received.
- Strong time management, organizational, planning and self-motivation skills.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) is preferred, not required.
- MHE experience or desire to learn MHE.

- Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations
- Requires the ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed by the customer.
- Must be able to stand / walk for up to 10-12 hours.
- Lift and move totes up to 50-100 pounds.
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
- Walking in the facility and around the area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length.
- Should be able to work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperature variation and able to access all areas of building without limitations.

Warehouse Associate (Day)

Provide labor and effort to assist in the accurate and timely receipt of goods, consolidation of warehoused goods, and replenishment of pick locations as well as other necessary warehouse functions such as pulling customer orders for next day delivery, replenishment, housekeeping and inventory control.
Responsibilities
Safely and properly unload a trailer of product, verify the load for accuracy and stage for put away.
- Pick and pack orders using label picking, ring scanners, voice directed picking or paper picket tickets.
- Meet individual productivity and accuracy standards as identified through Labor Management (LM) metrics.
- Required to safely operate material handling equipment (MHE) to include forklifts, order pickers, pallet jacks, reach trucks, slip sheet attachment, and / or clamper truck or attachment.
- Utilize Warehouse Management System (WMS) scan guns and tools for the purpose of maintaining proper inventory levels and proper location of goods in the warehouse.
- Assist in physical inventories and cycle counting as directed.
- Interact with associates during the hand-off from shift to shift. Frequently will have interaction with delivery personnel, and the early morning receiving crew.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), preferably one year warehouse experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required to obtain certification and safely operate material handling equipment (MHE) to include forklifts, order pickers, pallet jacks, reach trucks, slip sheet attachment, and / or clamper truck or attachment.
