Summary :
Uniformed position at all times. Armed Security Officer’sduties include being a visible deterrent to criminal activity,providing security for patients, Associates and visitors,protecting and patrolling hospital buildings, assets and premisesas assigned.

- Responds to thecollection, inventory, and return of lost and found items, patientvaluables, medication, and personal property according topolicy.
- Enforces all rules, regulations,policies, and procedures of CHRISTUS Health and the laws of theState of Texas.
- Controls and enforces facilityparking through the use of patrols, violation warning citations,towing, booting and explanation of rules asapplicable.
- Assists clinical / non-clinicalAssociates with combative patients orvisitors.
- Demonstrates competence to performassigned client care responsibilities in a way that meets theage-specific and developmental needs of persons served by thedepartment.
- Demonstrates proficiency andknowledge in the operation of the Attendant Console, Paging System,security radio / dispatch system, operations of the Digital VideoRecorder (NVR) security monitors (CCTV) and the general overheadpaging system.
- Must be proficient with the useof a PC to generate electronic daily activity security reports,incident reports, emails and other applicable electroniccorrespondence during the performance ofduties.
- Promotes a safe environment byreporting safety hazards observed (broken water / sprinkler lines,burned out internal / external lighting, smoke / gas odors, trippinghazards, etc.
during the performance of securityrounds.
- Appropriately adapts assigned clientassessment, treatment and / or care methods to accommodate thephysical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs ofeach person served.
- Demonstrates adherence tothe CORE values of CHRISTUS Health.
- Performsother duties as assigned.
Requirements :
- High school diploma or its equivalentrequired.
- Must have the ability to interactappropriately with all staff, patients and visitors, especiallyunder difficult circumstances.
- Must bementally alert at all times
- Must have excellentwritten and verbal communication skills
- Must beable to make immediate decisions with regard to laws, policies andprocedures.
- Must have / maintain valid motorvehicle license.
- Demonstrated competence withhand gun, hand cuffs, baton, non-crisis intervention certificationand two-way radios.

The Security Officer III is responsible for maintaining a secure and protective environment at the San Antonio State Supported Living Center by observing and taking action and reporting incidents or security violations involving the residents and initiating emergency response as appropriate.
Monitors alarms and surveillance cameras, patrols the buildings and grounds, checks badges or proper identification at facility gate / entrance, and handles after-hours emergency calls that would enhance the safety of facility residents, employees, and visitors.
Responsible for the dissemination and coordination of emergency responses and information, and notification to facility management and law enforcement if appropriate, in the event of emergency and / or security violation situations.
Performs monthly fire extinguisher inspections in all buildings. Identifies unfamiliar persons on campus and within the homes / buildings as captured on surveillance cameras and during routine patrols.
Ensures appropriate lighting for the safety of residents, staff, and visitors. May train other security officers. Works at a facility serving individuals who have complex needs and who may exhibit aggressive and / or self-injurious behaviors.
