What You'll Do

Epic is seeking a QA specialist to own the testing process, risk management, and quality evaluation for Fortnite Technical Animation features, functionality or set of work. You will be part of a rapidly iterating development team working closely with professional and highly technical animation  developers.

In this role, you will

  • Work with Art Leads, producers, and QA management to identify risks, and plan testing coverage for upcoming TechAnim art features.
  • Build test strategies and plans in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with test teams internally and externally to complete test objectives on art assets to help ensure that our art content is shipped within our standards and expectations.
  • Plan and conduct data analysis around TechAnim features. Use knowledge of art practices to give feedback, and flag issues with features that may not have been initially considered.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot reported defects and internal issues to help prioritize fixes and recommend new areas of testing.
  • Report and track for data quality and use that data to drive conversations around product quality and development health.
  • Develop a tactical approach for long term testing of a given feature including all types of functional and qualitative testing.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of software testing experience in a fast-paced environment with a passion for digital art, with a proven track record of successful contributions to the release of high-quality products.
  • Experience working with Technical Animation and rigging on game assets.
  • Solid understanding of test methodologies and iterative development
  • Strong communication skills and ability to confidently collaborate with senior artists on technical topics and features
  • Experience in functional and usability testing, as well as cross-platform testing
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to thrive while working in a fast-paced working environment with the ability to juggle multiple projects

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

What You'll Do

People within the QA Engineer career track work with product owners, developers, and QA management to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and plan testing coverage for upcoming features/releases. You will develop and implement automation test strategies and utilize technical tooling to expand breadth and add depth to QA coverage of multiple features in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will facilitate functional, qualitative, and performance testing efforts while using a mix of manual and technical testing skills to execute a variety of testing techniques across your product to analyze and report on quality. You are expected to work in a highly autonomous environment embedded on a specific team or product while working closely with designers, engineers, and production staff, using a combination of quality assurance, data analysis, and technical skills to drive appropriate testing techniques early on in development through release cycles and beyond.

In this role, you will

  • Working with product owners, developers and QA management to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and plan testing coverage for upcoming features / releases
  • Examine technical gaps and automation initiatives between geographically distributed teams, vendors, and agencies to deliver the highest quality product
  • Building test strategies and test plans to cover multiple features in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Using a mix of manual and technical testing skills to execute a variety of testing techniques across your product to analyze the quality of said product while troubleshooting reported defects and internal issues
  • Reporting and tracking for data quality, and using that data to drive conversations around product quality and development health, supporting developers before, during, and after deployments.
  • Test communications between the client and backend services

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience creating tools or automation using Python, C++ and/or C#
  • Ability to confidently collaborate with senior members on technical topics and features
  • Software or games testing experience in a fast paced environment
  • Technical understanding of web, mobile, XR, or game technologies, including automation, functional, qualitative, and performance against consistently iterative development
  • Experience with art pipelines and tech art preferred
  • Previous experience working with data and/or analytics is a bonus
