What We Do

What You'll Do

We're looking for a Lead Gameplay Engine Programmer to lead a team who will build the systems that Unreal Engine customers build their games on. You and your team will also be improving and supporting existing gameplay systems such as Blueprint, Gameplay Ability System, Enhanced Input, Game Features and Modular Gameplay plugins. You should have experience leading a team of programmers and setting them up for success.

You should have a broad knowledge of modern game engine technology, as well as a good sense of trade-offs between performance, memory usage, and ease-of-implementation. Additionally, you should have experience working closely with developers in all disciplines, not just other programmers. Your team’s goal is to empower Unreal Engine users, including Fortnite, to make world-class experiences using the systems that you create, through close iteration with both our internal game teams and external engine customers.

In this role, you will

• Lead, architect and guide gameplay system development to help Unreal Engine grow to fit the needs of current and future games and applications.
• Scope and prioritize work in close collaboration with the team, making trade-offs when they’re appropriate.
• Maintain long term feature roadmaps that align with Unreal Engine goals.
• Work closely with other teams, leads and production across different projects to align feature work to help everyone succeed.
• Work with artists, animators, and designers to understand their needs when designing and developing engine systems.
• Optimize memory and performance, and fix common problems in systems that have to scale from high-end to mobile systems.

What we're looking for

• Someone with excellent leadership skills, including mentorship, planning technical roadmaps, making trade-offs, and prioritization.
• Excellent C++ skills, with a familiarity of scripting systems like Blueprint, Lua, Python, etc.
• Experience in a broad range of programming areas on shipping games or real-time visualization systems, with special attention given to low-level code and deep optimization.
• Well-versed in software engineering principles, especially API design.

What You'll Do

People within the QA Engineer career track work with product owners, developers, and QA management to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and plan testing coverage for upcoming features/releases. You will develop and implement automation test strategies and utilize technical tooling to expand breadth and add depth to QA coverage of multiple features in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will facilitate functional, qualitative, and performance testing efforts while using a mix of manual and technical testing skills to execute a variety of testing techniques across your product to analyze and report on quality. You are expected to work in a highly autonomous environment embedded on a specific team or product while working closely with designers, engineers, and production staff, using a combination of quality assurance, data analysis, and technical skills to drive appropriate testing techniques early on in development through release cycles and beyond.

In this role, you will

• Working with product owners, developers and QA management to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and plan testing coverage for upcoming features / releases
• Examine technical gaps and automation initiatives between geographically distributed teams, vendors, and agencies to deliver the highest quality product
• Building test strategies and test plans to cover multiple features in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
• Using a mix of manual and technical testing skills to execute a variety of testing techniques across your product to analyze the quality of said product while troubleshooting reported defects and internal issues
• Reporting and tracking for data quality, and using that data to drive conversations around product quality and development health, supporting developers before, during, and after deployments.

What we're looking for

• Previous experience creating tools or automation using Python, C++ and/or C#
• Ability to confidently collaborate with senior members on technical topics and features
• Software or games testing experience in a fast paced environment

What You'll Do

As a Senior Technical Artist for our new game project, you will play a crucial role in solving character-related challenges and optimizing the character implementation pipeline. Your responsibilities will include integrating characters into the game engine while maintaining artistic vision and performance standards. You will utilize your expertise in Unreal Engine material lookdev and the material graph to create visually impressive and efficient character materials. Additionally, your proficiency in Blueprint scripting and understanding of the character implementation pipeline will enable you to extend and optimize asset integration. Your familiarity with third-party DCCs and problem-solving skills will contribute to addressing technical issues and streamlining asset workflows.

In this role, you will

• Character Implementation Pipeline: Collaborate with the art and engineering teams to optimize the character implementation pipeline, ensuring efficient workflows and maintaining the artistic vision from DCCs to in-game assets.  
• Material LookDev: Utilize your deep knowledge of Unreal Engine material lookdev and the material graph to create visually stunning and technically efficient materials for characters, enhancing their appearance and overall visual fidelity within the optimized pipeline.  
• Blueprint Knowledge: Utilize your understanding of blueprint scripting to extend and improve the character implementation pipeline, enabling smoother asset integration and addressing any technical challenges that may arise.  
• Problem Solving: Identify and resolve technical issues related to the character implementation pipeline, including optimizing asset creation workflows, addressing rendering artifacts, and streamlining asset pipelines. Continuously explore and implement new techniques and technologies to improve efficiency and quality in character production.  
• Third-Party DCCs: Leverage your proficiency with third-party DCCs such as Nuke, Maya, Houdini and Substance Painter to create, modify, and optimize character assets. Collaborate with artists to streamline asset creation and ensure seamless integration into the optimized pipeline.  

What we're looking for
