OPPORTUNITY

Green Dot Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, experienced and proactive Public Relations Manager to join our Communications team.

As the Public Relations Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with local and state media outlets, crafting and distributing media-related materials, monitoring media coverage, and supporting the Communications and Marketing Director in executing the organization's PR strategy.

This role requires a proactive and strategic approach to effectively manage the public image and reputation of Green Dot Public Schools.

As the Public Relations Manager, you will play a vital role in preparing well-structured media advisories, press releases, and editorial content the media and public consumption including Green Dot’s website, blog, articles, newsletters and social media platforms.

You curate all public relations content and calendars for the organization while supporting the Communications and Marketing Director in developing and executing the long-term communication strategy for Green Dot Public Schools.

You work closely with the Communications and Marketing department to direct external communications efforts with the goals of increasing student enrollment, attracting high-quality talent, maintaining strong community ties and distinguishing Green Dot California’s as a leader in public education.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and maintain relationships with local media outlets, including newspapers, radio stations, and TV stations, to promote positive coverage of Green Dot Public Schools and its initiatives

Assist the Communications and Marketing Director in the development and implementation of a comprehensive PR strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.

Write and distribute compelling press releases, media advisories, and other media-related materials to generate media coverage and increase awareness of Green Dot's mission, programs, and achievements

Monitor media coverage of Green Dot schools, track relevant news stories, and promptly respond to any inaccuracies or negative press, ensuring accurate representation of the organization

Support the organization of press conferences and media events, including coordinating logistics, drafting talking points and press materials, and facilitating media interviews with key stakeholders

Collaborate with the Communications and Public Affairs team to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels

Analyze earned media metrics, such as media mentions, impressions, and sentiment, and provide regular reports to the Communications and Marketing Director, offering insights and recommendations for future PR initiatives

Serve as a spokesperson for Green Dot Public Schools when necessary, representing the organization in media interviews and public speaking engagements

Stay up to date with current industry trends, PR best practices, and emerging technologies, and apply that knowledge to enhance Green Dot's PR efforts

Attend and staff events to serve as a liaison with the media, facilitating media coverage and managing media relations during the event

QUALIFICATIONS

As an ideal candidate, you

have a bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field

have a minimum of 4 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or a similar role, (preferably in the education or nonprofit sector)

have a proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with media outlets and securing positive media coverage

are a passionate storyteller who uses effective communication as a tool for advocacy and community engagement

are an experienced on-the-record spokesperson

possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages and adapt communication style for different audiences and platforms

possess strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

have experience in crisis communication and reputation management, with the ability to effectively navigate and respond to media inquiries and negative press

COMPENSATION

The starting salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000, based on education and experience.

The Marketing and Public Relations Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and reviewing marketing strategies and communication plans in support of the successful launch and ongoing operation of the Experiences, both domestically in the U.

S. and globally while maintaining proper governance on brand management at all times. The role is imperative to developing partnership relationships, integral representation of intellectual property, and achieving quality execution of all marketing initiatives across versatile markets.

This role will exhibit strategic critical thinking, business writing, and project management skills.

In addition to the four Disney theme parks in Hong Kong, Paris, Shanghai, and Tokyo, Disney Parks International (DPI) also is responsible for the unit that develops experiences around the world leveraging popular franchises and IPs from 20th Century Studios and National Geographic (the Experiences ).

You Will :

  • Partner across lines of business, including external partners e.g., IP-owners and IP-licensees, to oversee creative, brand vision, and initiatives to ensure proper management and integrity of intellectual property.
  • Oversee or review marketing campaigns including promotional tie-ins, sponsorships and execution of campaigns in all forms of media, print, A / V and digital.
  • Provide copy recommendations for initiatives and public relations communications.
  • Drive progress on key in-flight projects (facilitating meetings, tracking status, articulating key issues, prioritizing action items, following through to keep work moving, reviewing content with partners for approval, etc.).
  • Manage review and approvals by other Disney entities where relevant (e.g., Legal, Studios, Public Affairs, etc.).
  • Proactively identify and manage potential issues and opportunities.
  • Leverage consumer insights as appropriate to identify and address business needs to strengthen consumer affinity, achieved planned visitation, and maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Work closely with other stakeholders within Disney Parks International to ensure alignment both within DPI and with external partners.

You Will Have :

  • 10+ years of experience in related functions (e.g., marketing, public relations, public affairs, media relations, etc.), with emphasis on communications-related functions
  • Fluency in English with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated creative thinking and the ability to take initiative with projects and anticipate issues of concern
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proactive, self-starter, ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance / supervision
  • Ability to establish relationships and strong partnerships
  • Highly proficient at leading and influencing peer level partners
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to broadly influence and effectively forge partnerships both internally and externally
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing and growing environment
  • Some schedule flexibility to participate in virtual meetings in different time zones.
  • Advanced ability to sort and interpret multiple sources of data in order to discern key business trends, challenges and opportunities
  • Strong ability to synthesize large amounts of actionable data points
  • Disciplined organizational skills in all aspects of job performance with strong attention to detail
  • High level of corporate professionalism and maturity

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in a related field

The hiring range for this position in location is $112,012.00 to $150,260.00 per year . The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

A bonus and / or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
