LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking a full-time referral specialist for a client in San Diego, CA on a contract-to-hire basis.

The client requires the representative to streamline the referral process, enhance patient care coordination, and ensure that patients receive the appropriate medical attention and services they need.

This position is in San Diego, CA and it is an on-site position!!

Responsibilities :

  • Examine patient medical records and assess the need for a referral based on the physician's recommendations or the patient's condition.
  • Evaluate the patient's medical needs and match them with the appropriate specialists or healthcare facilities based on their expertise, location, availability, and insurance coverage.
  • Initiate the referral process by contacting the referral provider or facility and ensuring that all necessary paperwork and medical information are provided.
  • Work with the insurance company to obtain authorization for the referral and ensure that the necessary documentation and pre-approval requirements are met.
  • Schedule appointments for the patient with the preferred healthcare provider, considering the patient's preferences and the availability of the specialist.
  • Maintain regular communication with patients, keeping them informed about the referral process, appointment details, and any necessary follow-up instructions.
  • Ensure that all relevant medical information and test results are shared with the referring physician or primary care provider, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate records of all referrals, including documentation of the referral process, authorization details, appointment dates, and outcomes.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers, including primary care physicians, specialists, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities, to coordinate and facilitate the referral process efficiently.
  • Stay informed about changes in healthcare policies, insurance requirements, and referral guidelines to ensure compliance and provide accurate information to patients and healthcare providers.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma / GED is required.
  • 1+ years of experience in a call center, preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in healthcare, preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, required

  • Improve telephone response time to meet the established regional TSF (telephone service factor) standard of 80% of incoming calls answered within 2 minutes.

  • Demonstrates competence and understands the overall operational function of the department to include scheduling of patient appointments by telephone, mail, or in person utilizing RIS.
  • Demonstrates competence in the operation of diagnostic ultrasound equipment, realtime and mobile, to obtain quality diagnostic images.

Consistently selects correct technical factors relative to the requirements of the study and the patient's age and body habitus.

Consistently selects equipment settings and appropriate transducers in accordance with department protocols and patient body habitus.

Consistently processes hard copy images properly, utilizing automated equipment. Properly and consistently follows specific infection control techniques relative to ultrasound imaging (e.

g., cold sterilization of probes, use of condoms on endocavity probes, etc.). Routinely manipulates transducer appropriately to obtain the desired images.

Exercises good clinical judgment. Consults with the radiologist or other clinician for purposes of clarifying orders. Selects alternate or additional views appropriately relative to the patient's condition.

Does not attempt to perform an exam in any case in which it cannot be performed safely and / or properly. Consistently demonstrates the ability to differentiate between normal and abnormal anatomy.

Documents clinical activities in a timely, comprehensive and accurate manner. Completes and initials the standard consultation form and the Radiology Processing Record accurately and immediately following each procedure.

Routinely documents patient history relative to previous surgery, childbirth and other conditions which could affect the ultrasonic image of internal organs.

Basic Qualifications :

Experience

  • One (1) year of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a major medical center.
  • Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.

Education

Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited ultrasound program or a graduate from a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with current ARDMS certification.

License, Certification, Registration

  • Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification to include registries of physics, abdomen, and Obstetrics / Gynecology.
  • CPR (BLS-C, AHA approved course) - must be obtained during the probationary period.

Additional Requirements :

Competency in components of sonography as listed : routine abdomen; abdomen doppler; small parts; thyroid and obstetrics / gynecology.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Two (2) years experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a major medical center.
  • Experience with Acuson Sequoia, Philips iu-22 and Clickview ultrasound reporting package.

The Behavioral Medical Director position is responsible for providing oversight to and direction of the Clinical Management Program supporting members in the commercial and Medicare Advantage space in Michigan state.

This individual will be part of a team of Optum Psychiatrists and will work closely with community Behavioral Health Providers.

The Behavioral Medical Director is part of a leadership team that manages development and implementation of evidence-based treatments and medical expense initiatives and will also advise leadership on health care system improvement opportunities.

They are responsible for maintaining the clinical integrity of the program, including timely peer reviews, appeals and consultations.

The responsibilities include working collaboratively with the Health Plan Medical Director, Clinical, Network and Quality staff.

Primary Responsibilities :
