Duties you will be responsible for :
- Greet and room patients, ensuring appropriate patient flow
- Update patient's medical chart with accurate and timely documentation
- Manage phone triage and take appropriate action under the direction of the provider
- Demonstrate ability and appropriate technical skills when administering treatments and procedures in accordance with physician's orders

Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2+ years' experience as Medical Assistant preferred
- Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) preferred

Medical Assistant
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Graduate from an approved, accredited Vocational / Practical Nurse program located in a state, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory.
- Current, full and unrestricted LVN / LPN license in the state of Texas.
- One year of professional experience as a licensed vocational nurse / licensed practical nurse.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers® certification through the American Heart Association®.
- Ability to pass a federal government security background check.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides direct care to patients within discipline Scope of Practice and performs functions in accordance with current accepted practice, licensure, certification, credentialing, and granted privileges.
- Provides treatment of persons throughout the life span as appropriate to discipline and facility setting.
- May be expected to respond to and coordinate response to medical emergencies.
- Evaluates health care needs of residents and assists RN in the development of nursing care plans to meet those needs.
- Must adhere to practical nursing principles, procedures and techniques for appropriate patient care and take direction from registered nurses and onsite administrative personnel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Required to walk unaided at a normal pace for up to 10 minutes and maintain balance.
- Required to respond to any medical emergency within 4 minutes, where a fast walk or jog may be necessary to provide assistance.
- Required to perform CPR / emergency care standing or kneeling.
- Must have the ability to assist sick, injured or aging detainees or staff exiting the building during an emergency (may require lifting, dragging, wheeling or carrying someone who weighs significantly more than self).
- Must be able to see, hear and smell with or without the use of aides if necessary (exceptions on a case-by-case basis).
- Must easily alternate between kneeling and standing.
- Must be able to lift, push, or carry 30 pounds.

The Medical Assistant at GenesisCare is a specifically trained individual who demonstrates expertise in dealing with patients during all aspects of care.
Performs administrative and clinical duties under the direction of the Physician or Physician’s designee.
What you’ll do :
- Under the guidance of the Physician, responsibilities are as follows :
- Assist the doctor in all aspects of the patient’s initial consultation, and
Weekly status checks
Routine follow-up examinations
Any emergency visits that are needed.
- Schedule and follow-up on all diagnostic studies that are ordered including proper documentation and obtaining physicians signature on test result.
- Responsible for acquiring results and notifying Physician of results on all interim reports.
- Charts information of patient progress on weekly status check sheets and scuts.
- Draws blood for various lab tests that are sent out. Follow up on results of lab.
- Attend annual OSHA / Biomedical update meetings and application in the clinical setting of the updates.
- Practice safety precautions and wear personal protective equipment when needed.
- Document medications the patients are currently taking, and document any new medications prescribed by our physicians while under our care.
This includes the name of the medication, dose and amount prescribed, physician prescribing, instructions, date and nurse’s initials.
- Documentation of any samples given to patient.
- Responsible for charting patient’s vital signs, initial weight, and all follow-up weights.
- Responsible for obtaining all signed permission slips for patients who are radioactive prostate seed implants only.
- Verify the allergy sticker is complete.
- Assist or perform cathing of patients for various simulations.
- Responsible for reporting or verifying all patient problems as reported.
- Maintain HIPAA rules and regulations as it applies to patient privacy.
- Maintain open communication with front desk, Nursing staff, etc. as it applies to :

Patients on treatment breaks
Changes in treatment plan
- Be an active part of the center’s team.
- Demonstrate courtesy and respect at all times

POSITION SUMMARY
Radiology Partners is seeking a Medical Assistant who will perform a full range of clinical, secretarial, and administrative duties.
The Medical assistant is accountable for reviewing past medical history, surgical history, social history, medications, taking vital signs, and preparing the client to see the physician or PA for their procedure.
The Medical Assistant will perform departmental support functions such as operating a multi-telephone line system, entering data into information systems, or other duties similar in nature.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare clients for their practitioner visit or procedure by reviewing medical, surgical, and social history, reviewing medications, and taking vital signs
- Answer questions the patient may have about the procedure, pre-operatively or post-operatively
- Answer inbound telephone calls
- Keep treatment rooms stocked with all necessary supplies
- Proficient in setting up for all procedures
- Assisting Medical Records in the completion of studies
- Coordinate with front Surgical Coordinators on scheduled procedures for surgeons
- Monitor Exceptions for missing studies through worklist. Contact IT support to correct issues with studies that are locked or missing
- Communicate to surgeon of any missing reports and / or any outstanding studies that need dictation or addendums
- Sterilize instruments and perform weekly autoclave maintenance while documenting date in log
- Assists in surgical procedures
- Serves and protects the physician and health care providers by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
- Work closely with the doctors to manage office efficiency, flow and quality of customer care
- Maintain continuity of communications with rotating physicians and physician assistants
- Other duties, as needed
DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma preferred
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
- BLS certification
- Experience working in a wound or vascular clinic very helpful.
- Bi-lingual (English / Spanish) required.
- Ability to learn and retain information regarding medical care and procedures
- Knowledge of health care field
- Experience in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software
