The Engineer is responsible for design of mechanical and structural components that form part of SMR 160 plant. The Engineer will be part of the multidisciplinary team whose combined research, creative, and technical expertise add value throughout a collaborative product development process.

The Engineer will work alongside engineers, designers, and analysts in a dynamic development environment. The Engineer participates in the daily activities of the Mechanical Engineering team, creating feasible / practical solutions to challenging design problems.

The Engineer is hands-on in the mechanical design of innovative components by delivering on mechanical conceptualization, requirements development, detailed development, engineering analysis and technical documentation.

This range of work, on one project or multiple projects, will ensure that each day brings new challenging problems that pushes the limit of one’s capabilities.

The Engineer will be part of a team executing a U.S. Government cost-shared development program requiring efficient completion of engineering assignments, including coordination with other analysts in U.

S. and off-shore operating centers. Specific Areas of Responsibility : Execute mechanical design activities : CAD, design for manufacturability, engineering analyses, and technical documentation.

Develop concept designs based on limited requirements or functions and develop mature requirements by gaining understanding of the system, structure or components.

Review available concept designs based on an ambiguous set of requirements and develop them into mature designs by critical thinking, literature research, interacting with team members from other disciplines and vendors, and any analysis as permitted by project milestones.

Develop technical documentation, obtain vendor inputs, and perform verification design concepts. Support the preparation of design deliverables, presentations, and communicate design progress in stakeholder meetings.

Support development of engineering and licensing requirements and documentation for nuclear systems and components. Applicants should be prepared to play an active role in a project-driven and highly integrated engineering team Minimum Requirements : BS in chemical, mechanical, nuclear, or closely related field of engineering.

Strong academic background in mechanical or structural engineering. 0-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent attention to detail and capable of producing error-free documents.

Strong math, analytical, problem-solving, and computer skills. Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810. Desired Qualifications : MS in chemical, mechanical, nuclear, or closely related field of engineering. >

5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Industry experience in design / fabrication of products such as heat exchangers, piping valves and pumps, and ASME components.

Industry experience in using FEA simulation to support product development. Experience working with engineers and fabricators to develop designs and drawings.

Experience with using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and SmartPlant software suites. Experience in commercial nuclear or naval nuclear design.

TDI Technologies, Inc. (TDI) is seeking candidates for a Senior Mechanical Acoustic and Flow Machinery Silencing Engineer position supporting Research and Development Test Site for NSWCPD .

This position will work with other TDI personnel and Navy teams to support early acquisition program requirements definition, feasibility, and design.

The Fluid Labs Group of the machinery technology and R&D branch at NSWC Philadelphia requires support for auxiliary and propulsion systems support and interfaces to other Hull, Mechanical, & Electrical (HM&E) systems, specifically valves, Cascade Orifical Resistive Devices (CORDs).

This position will provide testing setup guidance and design support, as well as project engineering coordination for the test facilities.

Principal Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Prepare cost estimates for operational and flow related test planning, test execution, data analysis and preparing technical reports in support of Subsea and Seabed Warfare (SSW) component evaluation and other HM&E subsystem components.
  • Provide test site design guidance, support test planning and scheduling, develop test procedures, support / attend test readiness reviews, collect and analyze test data.
  • Complete documentation packages and provide oversite for all Mission Readiness Panels documentation and reviews to ensure compliance and light off of test facilities.
  • Collaborate with the C / 323 Fluid Labs Subject Matter Expert and engineering team to design repair, install, modify, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot, and HM&E systems, subsystems components such as valves, CORDs, and other Navy HM&E components.
  • Utilize C323 Data Acquisition Systems to set up and record test data during test execution periods
  • Evaluate acoustic data acquired during operational and flow testing at test sites for compliance with operational thresholds.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements :

  • Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2 or more years of experience in designing and conducting tests, utilizing accelerometers and instrumentation for data acquisition
  • 2 or more years of experience in mechanical flow systems and acoustics design and test preferred

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Successful applicants must either have an active government security clearance or the ability to receive approval upon position acceptance.
  • Must have a valid US passport or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance.
