Basic Function

Plan, schedule and implement technology development efforts related to development of new flow control products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop new mechanical flow measurement and control technologies (sensors, valves, meter bodies, flow elements, enclosures, etc.

in the field of fluid delivery devices for semiconductor processing.

• Integrate state of the art valve technologies in line with current semiconductor manufacturing requirements for fluid delivery devices.
• Evaluate and develop control valve technologies designs including robust packaging options for fluid flow.
• Develop and / or interpret complex 3D CAD drawings in SolidWorks, AutoCAD or other CAD packages for fluid delivery components.
• Develop mechanical product designs and processes for flow control devices.
• Assist in gathering market and engineering design requirements for fluid flow.
• Design verification and validation testing of new designs / new products. Assist in the iterative redesign of products as needed.
• Design custom test fixturing for design verification testing and component level characterizations.
• Plan and conduct design-support work to maintain project timing.
• Maintain and enhance department safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required, MS in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 0-2 years experience in mechanical design of flow component / instrumentation / electromechanical devices
• 3D CAD Modeling, Drawing generation and CAD database experience required. Solidworks experience preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing and assembly a plus.
• Experience in mass flow control technology a plus.
• Experience in validation testing and technical writing required.
• Ability to lead and make technical contributions to a multi-disciplinary team required.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook Required.
• Ability to read and understand detailed technical drawings and specifications required.
• Matlab, Simulink, LabView, Python, C#, C++, VBA, FEA Analysis experience a plus.
• Related experience or training in the following areas desired : Process control instrumentation, Metrology, Data collection and analysis, Calibration

The Mechanical Engineer for this role will provide guidance in design, development, optimization and problem solving of Non-wovens, Converting / Packaging, and Mill Utility equipment.

Candidates must have expertise across multiple technologies and will have a demonstrated ability to effectively interface with a broad range of team members.

The incumbent reports to Engineering and Reliability Manager and receives direction in the form of broad and specific project objectives and daily accountability meetings.

This role is located in Corinth, MS at our Corinth Mill.

In this role, you will :

Carry out all job responsibilities in a safe and effective manner. Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines.

Provide for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance, and other personnel.

• Lead various engineering projects with a financial scope of $5 to $10 million from conception through commercialization.
• Provide functional guidance in the design, development, and optimization of tissue converting equipment and processes to meet unit objective.
• Develop knowledge and skills in application of engineering principles, scientific analysis, and project management.
• Seek, recognize, define, and solve problems to achieve unit objectives while collaborating and maintaining relationships with technicians, reliability team members, staff, and outside vendors / contractors.
• Identify complex technical issues and provide necessary solutions to eliminate root cause.
• Provide on-call and on-site support coverage occasionally / as needed.

You'll be engaging in a highly hands-on role with our other optical and mechanical engineers to develop assembly methods, fixtures, and processes to repeatedly and reliably build our optical and display engines.

Responsibilities include :

• Developing repeatable assembly processes and associated fixturing to assemble optical lenses, prisms, waveguides, opto-mechanics, and related parts
• Working with other engineers as part of a design team to CAD and fabricate fixtures and mechanical components
• Test assemblies, document and measure performance, identify issues, and implement fixes for those issues
• Identifying and communicating with suppliers to manufacture optical elements from glass or plastic, some of which may be quite novel

• Taking responsibility for, and managing, project timelines and deliverables

We emphasize that this is a *hands on*, and an *engineering* role - you will be expected to spend a large portion of your time in the lab building things, you should enjoy lab work, and you should be able to develop and scale new designs and processes.

Highly desirable experience includes :

• Degree in mechanical or optical engineering from a respected engineering program
• 5+ years experience in optical or other small part precision lab work
• Fluent in Solidworks
• Adept at communicating with vendors, including optical element manufacturers, and drawing generation
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes (CNC, molding, turning, polishing, etc.)
• Experience leading advanced engineering projects and delivering to aggressive timelines
• Experience working at startups is a plus!

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the VP, you will be responsible for managing a number of mechanical engineers across the USA. The role will have a broad focus encompassing strategic planning, client management, project delivery, operations and leadership.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting the various engineering teams with their project work to ensure excellent service delivery for mechanical engineering services in a consulting environment and on building projects.

Key Responsibilities include :

• Leadership - Act as Studio manager for Mechanical Engineering in this multi-disciplinary firm, managing and mentoring staff
• Problem Solving and project planning
• Possess an excellent knowledge of mechanical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards applied to design work, so as to be able to support the various teams

• Solid knowledge and application of the mechanical and / or plumbing requirements per building codes, energy codes, and other related standards
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
• Excellent client and project management skills
• Strong Leadership skills, able to delegate and manage staff and teams
• LEED® Accredited Professional is preferred but not essential
