Position Role Type :

We have an immediate opening for a Mechanical Test Engineer at our Aerospace location in Anaheim, CA. The Test Engineer will apply knowledge of test engineering principles & techniques to support the manufacturing and quality review of aerospace components.

Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Conduct product confirmation testing in the lab, followed by qualification testing, and coordinate with test laboratories to perform qualification testing for rotorcraft hardware, primarily hoist and winches, as listed in DO-160.
  • Create Test Procedures, Test Reports and Qualification by Similarity Reports
  • Support and deliver reports for proper safety and 5s of shop equipment and flight hardware.
  • Provide testing results to meet operational deadlines with high quality products in line with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Additional deliverables include continuous improvement tools, developing work instructions / standard work, and following all regulatory company procedures including thorough recording of all work to ensure traceability.
  • Participate and complete actions by attending daily / weekly schedule / status meetings, or more frequently as deemed appropriate.
  • Participate in Collins Aerospace Communities of Practice to maintain awareness of best practice.
  • The qualified applicant will be required after adequate training and experience, to certify & buy-off products per customer Quality Requirements.

Required & Desired Skills (Technical Competency) :

  • BSME and 3+ years’ Sustainment / Test Engineering experience.
  • Familiar with test planning background, analytical skills, able to infer engineering schematics and communicate design intent, Expertise developing test plans, procedure, and reports.
  • Experience developing plans and conducting Qualification by Test, Qualification by simulation OR Qualification by Analysis as required.
  • Outstanding communication skills - both written and verbal / organizational skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to understand complex design schematics / procedure.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, installation layouts, and sketches.
  • Experience in a Supply Chain Manufacturing / Sustainment Engineering preferred.
  • Ability to use personal transportation to visit customer locations.
  • Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment :

  • Mostly Office Environments, Occasional Shop Floor involvement.
  • Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work.
  • Heavily Regulated Industries with strict adherence to procedures.
  • Flexibility to meet business deadlines by staying late or arriving early.
