Description :
The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for maximizing the operational efficiency of his / her HOP Shops convenience store, ensuring compliance to company policies and procedures by all Team Members, and maintaining a safe, pleasant environment for his / her Team Members and Customers.
The Assistant Store Manager is expected to provide Leadership to his / her Team so that the store's performance excels! The Asst.
Manager reports to the Store Manager.
Essential Functions
Deals with human resource issues, bookkeeping, cash and inventory variances, and follows proper ordering and merchandising techniques and strategies.
Also investigates all large cash and inventory variances and ensures that each Team Member is fully aware of all security issues and follows procedures to protect first, all Team Members and Customers and secondly, company property.
- Trains and coaches Team Members on how best to perform their duties.
- Fills in for Team Members, in their absence, when there is no Team Member in the
position to do so.
- Verifies that all Team Members are fully trained in equipment use.
- Ensures that all stores are properly maintained and clean.
- Assistant Manager primarily works shifts that are different from the Store Manager (usually 2nd shift)
Specific Job Functions
- Manage The Store's Physical and Financial Resources Maintain strict control of cash and lottery tickets Investigate cash shortages / overages
- Make up deposits and take to bank
- Prepare daily reports and other reports on which the store's financial statements will be based and send to office in a timely manner
- Verify product type and quantity delivered by each vendor / salesperson and ensure all Team Members consistently follow all vendor check-in policies and procedures Verify accuracy of billing invoices
- Keep building, grounds, equipment and fixtures clean and in good condition Prevent losses due to spoilage, damage, theft and poor housekeeping
- Manage Store Personnel
- Train all Team Members Supervise Team Members
- Resolve conflicts and grievances involving Team Members when Store Manager is unavailable
- Develop Good Customer Relationships
- Maintain a clean, friendly, interesting store
- Provide prompt, courteous service for all customers Handle customer complaints promptly and fairly Have Fun!

- Minimum 1 year management experience in Convenience store, Department store, or grocery store.
- Willingness to work 40 hours per week.

- Valid Drivers License with clean driving record
