Greets and welcomes all customers immediately upon arrival and verifies number in their party. Determines special needs, e.

g., high chairs, special menus.

Collects payment from customers immediately, in accordance with established cash handling procedures, inquires about food / service satisfaction and handles customer complaints / suggestions appropriately.

Seats customers at tables / booths appropriate for their needs and those of the restaurant, and introduces feature of the day.

Keeps hostess area stocked and clean, e.g., to-go items and bakery products.

Handles incoming telephone calls immediately, and takes to go orders as appropriate.

Maintains proper supply of clean menus.

Periodically supplies customers with initial beverage suggestions and provides beverage order and refills.

Assists service personnel in clearing and setting tables.

Resolves complaints as he / she becomes aware of them, notifying the manager of any complaints received.

Assists other service personnel as needed.

The typical pay range for this role is :

Minimum : $16.04 - Maximum : $18.00

POSITION SUMMARY

A Host / Hostess presents a positive first impression of the establishment's friendliness, excellent service, and high standards.

The Host / Hostess also greet Guests upon arrival, inform Guests of their wait time, monitor a waiting list, enter Guest names into the computer system, show Guests to their table and bid Guests farewell as they leave.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet patrons, and if needed, confirm reservations, take reservations, and track occupancy chart for space
  • Answers phone calls and gives basic information on reservations, availability, restaurant hours and services
  • Keep track of the waiting list and open tables
  • Assign tables to guests depending on party size, waiter / waitress availability
  • Accurately quote wait times to patrons
  • Alert and call guests to host stand when the table is bussed and cleaned
  • Escort guests to table and present food and drink menus
  • Answer patron questions regarding menu items; recommend or suggest items as needed
  • Takes patrons' drink orders
  • Observe and assists in preparing unoccupied tables for customers by wiping surface top, removing debris, and ensure seats are clean
  • Assist with waitstaff side work and opening and closing duties
