The Financial Partner will train and assist in carrying out budget management responsibilities to include such areas as budget development, monitoring, reporting, and analysis.
Also, to assist in preparing monthly school budget status reports and providing assistance to staff as needed to identify areas of concern.
The Financial Partner performs strategic analysis related to school budgets; directly supports school leaders in budget development and use of funds, and performs other special projects for the Senior Financial Support Analysts.
Responsibilities
Educate school administration on the allocation of resources in the Student Based Budgeting (SBB) model in order to allow them to make appropriate budget decisions.
Provide insight as to how to equate student projections to budget estimates
- Provide guidance to school administrative staff and / or central office department heads to develop, align and execute school or departmental plans to a budget
- The financial partner will review and become familiar with the school plan to educate school administrators on how to most effectively utilize resources to meet the educational need of the students and align budgetary items to the goals outlined in the school plan OR The financial partner will review and become familiar with the departmental plan and educate department heads on how to most effectively utilize resources to meet the educational need of the students and align budgetary items to the goals outline in the departmental plan
- Proactively identify additional sources of funding available to budget, such as grants, and guide administrative staff through the application process
- Work with school and central administrative staff to increase community engagement with the school budget process. This could include (but is not limited to) parent surveys or being a member of the school's special advisory committee
- Partner with both the school's assigned Academic Superintendent or Department head and HR Partner to create a leadership network.
Provide regular financial status updates to the network
Provide financial analysis of budgets, including identifying and researching : variance analysis and forecasting, risks and solutions, and operational needs;
and communicate financial systems corrections needed on a monthly basis
- Use a variety of computer systems to create reports as needed and analyze budgets and formulate conclusions regarding the fiscal health of the assigned network of schools or departments
- Facilitate regular meetings with school or department clerical, administrative and central administration staff regarding the financial health, as well as facilitate discussion on upcoming goals and spending needs or changes
- Provide training to clerical and administrative staff on the following : preparation of financial reviews with the Budget Department, projecting year-end balances, preparation of budget transfers, and student activities accounts
- Develop training content to be used in presentations to school staff during key points in the year (budget development, Fall Adjustments, etc)
- Document process and procedures, implement process improvements, and retain documentation as required
- Reconciles each school petty cash checking account, reviews all purchases for schools regarding student activity funds, and allocates budgets and school deposits as it relates to student activities
- Other duties as assigned by the Financial Leadership Team
Qualifications
- Bachelors, preferred Accounting or Finance Degree; or equivalent experience
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Ideal candidate must be able to provide analyses and create alternatives and solutions
- Strong background in providing group and individual training to a various employee populations
- Preferred candidate would have 1-3 years’ experience in budgeting, accounting, and data analysis as well as research and evaluation skills utilizing automated systems (prefer experience in governmental accounting and budgeting environment)
- Technical knowledge of computer applications including MS Office

As part of the Financial Systems Support and Data team within Finance, responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to :

- Experience dealing with complex and large data sets from multiple sources to support analytical processes

Preferred Skills :
- Experience as a systems administrator or business analyst
- Experience working with financial system reporting environments such as Workday, Essbase, Oracle, etc.
- Experience working with various ETL tools (SAS EG, Ab Initio, etc.)
- Proficiency in using analytical tools including DB2, SQL, Visual Basic, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word)
- Hands on experience with database compilation and analysis
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $67,000 to $101,000 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience.
Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
