Director, Inclusive Programming

Full-time
Good storytelling starts with great listening. At Audible, that means each role and every project has our audience in mind. Because the same people who design, develop, and deploy our products also happen to use them. To us, that speaks volumes.

ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Director, Inclusive Programming drives Audible’s inclusive content programming strategy, which works to highlight and amplify traditionally marginalized and underrepresented voices across the portfolio. While all team members are responsible for ensuring our catalog reflects a variety of voices and lived experiences, the Director, Inclusive Programming leads the overarching strategic approach. As Director, Inclusive Programming, you will ensure audience appeal to meet acquisition or engagement goals through a variety of formats, lengths, and content opportunities. You will apply a combination of strategic thinking, commitment to celebrating the full spectrum of human experience, operational excellence, and a passion for results. This is a people manager role.

ABOUT THE TEAM
Audible’s programming team is the cornerstone between creative development, content acquisition, production, post-production, marketing, PR, and product, working to drive the most customer-obsessed content portfolio and experience. We help define and execute content strategy by tracking the competitive marketplace. We use data analytics, customer insights, and research to monitor performance and iterate the strategic approach as needed. We focus on audience priorities and content portfolio needs over the short, medium, and long-term. Output directs our development and creative pipeline to service the gaps and maximize future trend opportunities.

As Director, Inclusive Programming, you will...
  • Define the goals and objectives of inclusive programming in a clear, strategic vision, providing data, research, and insights that address audience needs, cultural and consumer trends, and outline creative opportunities and identify portfolio gaps
  • Facilitate brainstorms to fill vertical gaps; provide perspective for projects/groups of projects on the path to approval
  • Ensure anchor/tentpole content is created, acquired, and/or curated in time for seasonal opportunities (e.g. Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Black History Month, Pride Month, Latino and Hispanic Heritage, Neurodiversity Awareness, and more) as well as ensuring consistent releases throughout the year from a diverse range of voices and experiences
  • Work with a cross-section of content/marketing/PR partners on the customer-facing ‘Hear My Story’ campaigns, as well as additional high-impact, curated events and partnerships – and the ongoing programming of them – to maximize audience engagement and retention
  • Support existing – and create new, as needed – programs to identify and support emerging creators (for example, the Podcast Development Program)
  • Empower a positive, success-oriented environment that promotes creativity, inclusion, and innovation; offer feedback on content performance and lessons learned to maximize successes; serve as an internal and external representative of the brand and our content
