Employment Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of full time, paid experience as a fire, radio or communications dispatcher in a call center environment. Experience must include operating a variety of communication equipment including multiple channel radio receivers and transmitters, computer based phone systems, and alarm signaling devices.
Note : If the word experience is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable.
Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.
General Qualifications
Criminal History and Background Checks :
The County may access criminal history information on candidates who have accepted a conditional offer of appointment for this class consistent with the provisions of Board of Supervisors Resolution No.
82-602, Personnel Policies, and applicable federal and state laws. The County shall not consider for employment any candidate who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor that relates to or impacts the candidate’s ability to perform the job duties of this class unless it is determined that mitigating circumstances exist.
For purposes of accessing criminal history information, the candidate will be fingerprinted. A subsequent arrest notification may be obtained.

The Dispatcher is responsible for the planning, scheduling and dispatching of our customers freight. The role owns the relationship with our valued Independent Contractors and is instrumental in the successful coordination of the timely and accurate delivery of goods.
The key responsibilities of this function are to provide exceptional support to our drivers, be quick to respond to questions and troubleshooting concerns and to pro-actively monitor the movement of freight to ensure customer satisfaction.

Description
The City of Dixon is recruiting to fill one (1) part-time (24 hours per week) position with pro-rated benefits of Transit Dispatcher and to establish an eligibility list for future use.
- This position receives ride requests and quickly and efficiently organizes, schedules and routes Readi-Ride bus requests;

To receive incoming telephone calls and dispatch police units as necessary for assistance; perform a variety of general support duties related to communications activities.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is an entry level class in the Dispatcher series. Incumbents of this class are trained in department policies, procedures and systems through on-the-job training.
Generally, work is observed and reviewed both during performance and upon completion. Dispatcher Recruit is distinguished from the Dispatcher I classification in that it is a training classification.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Immediate supervision is provided by a Dispatcher III. Technical or functional supervision may be provided by a Dispatcher II or Dispatcher III.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive emergency and non-emergency telephone calls from the public requesting police, fire, and local government service;
