THE POSITION
Public Safety Dispatchers in the Sheriff's Office assist community members and agencies with emergency needs by receiving and dispatching calls received for law enforcement, fire service, and emergency medical service personnel.
Public Safety Dispatchers receive caller information, relay information to appropriate units or agencies, and provide assistance to callers as needed.
Additionally, Public Safety Dispatchers log call information into the computer; monitor activity of all public safety units to determine status of incidents and location of units.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience : One year of emergency service dispatching which included responsibility for dispatching for law enforcement or fire services; AND
Education : High school diploma or equivalent
Certification : A POST-certified Public Safety Dispatchers' Basic Course certificate is required.
Special Requirement : The ability to demonstrate a typing speed of 40WPM is required, and all qualified applicants will be sent a notice to remotely take a typing test through the online testing provider eSkill.

Dispatcher
MV Transportation is seeking a Dispatcher who work s to direct the day-to-day route operations and report to the Dispatch Supervisors.
This work is done in compliance with the procedures defined by the client and in conformance with company procedures. His / her duties involve daily communication and interaction with drivers and clients.
He / she must also organize and conduct activities to assure safe, cost-effective, on-time operating performance. Tracks and reports sign-in / sign-out times, assures routes are timely, and communicates service issues to the Dispatch Supervisors or Dispatch Managers as appropriate.
Job Responsibilities :
- Takes client calls and communicates issues with drivers and Dispatch Supervisors or Dispatch Managers as appropriate.
- Monitors radio, telephones and on-road provision of service for quality.
- Responsible for influencing positive employee morale and quality customer service.
- Monitors and completes driver sign-in and sign-out daily.
- May assign trips to drivers to assure adequate disbursement of trips between all assigned routes.
- Monitors daily system performance.
- Participates in analysis and review of operating performance.
- Notes closed and / or late starting of routes and communicates same to Dispatch Supervisors and / or Dispatch Managers as appropriate.
- All other duties, as assigned.
Talent Requirements :
- One (1) year previous Dispatcher experience preferred.
- Two ( 2 ) years of Customer Service experience is preferred.
- High School d iploma or equivalent.
- Bilingual required Spanish / English.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain composure under pressure in a fast pace environment.
- Demonstrate a high customer service commitment.
- Able to demonstrate professional phone manner.
- Knowledge of the service area is a plus.
Starting Pay Rate : $17.85 / hour

The Dispatch Representative works in the Dispatch Center to ensure timely product delivery while assisting customers with ordering quality concrete and building materials.
This position is responsible for coordinating schedules of deliveries, which includes order taking, scheduling of orders, setting up deliveries, and effectively communicating with customers, drivers, and the sales team.

Responsibilities
- Obtains orders and changes to existing orders from customers and sales representatives
- Enters orders and printed tickets into the system
- Coordinates special jobs, service and scheduling
- Coordinates with outside trucking subcontractors and by radio with drivers, service, and sales representatives
- Assists with resolution of customer delivery issues and customer complaints
- Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products
- Maintain proficiency and accuracy in data entry of customer orders
- Review orders in the system for proper mix design, travel times, and correct job start times; ensure customer-specific needs are met
- Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and work effectively with other members of the dispatch team
- Communicate with customers to provide up to date information regarding the company’s ability to meet delivery times
- Meet customer delivery demands and company with the guidelines of Federal Hours of Service Regulations
- Dispatch construction materials for multiple facilities; coordination of orders, trucks, and drivers
- Perform departmental clerical tasks including preparation of department reports and the ability to maintain dispatch / order desk records and data
Education
High school diploma / GED
Requirements / Qualifications
- Knowledge and understanding of union contracts and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to interact positively with a broad range of customers, vendors, and contractors
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and dispatch systems
- Attention to detail and able to multi-task
Preferred :
- Prior dispatch experience
- Knowledge of ready-mix concrete, aggregates, asphalt, etc.

The dispatcher is responsible for communicating back and forth with drivers and assist with problem resolution while on route.
In addition, create capacity, maximize productivity, and ensure prompt, courteous and efficient service to all customers and drivers.
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WOULD BE EXPECTED TO :
- Dispatch drivers to calls as they are received, coordinate customer needs, driver locations and loads, and scheduling factors to balance cost and speed of response
- Assign routes and service tickets to appropriate drivers throughout the day and for the next day, close service tickets each day
- Receive incoming calls and e-mails from customer service and sales department; manages requests for pick-up or container delivery and ensuring same-day service
- Initiates outbound calls to customers while drivers are on-site / location, resolving pick-up and other issues
- Troubleshoots and resolves potential delivery and pick-up problems before they result in service issues
- Ensures same-day service on missed pick-ups by coordinating driver movement in the field

Truck Dispatcher
- Assigning loads to drivers ensuring their proximity to the destination.
- Assisting Drivers in situations of traffic concussions and during prevailing or predicted weather conditions.
