THE POSITION

Public Safety Dispatchers in the Sheriff's Office assist community members and agencies with emergency needs by receiving and dispatching calls received for law enforcement, fire service, and emergency medical service personnel.

Public Safety Dispatchers receive caller information, relay information to appropriate units or agencies, and provide assistance to callers as needed.

Additionally, Public Safety Dispatchers log call information into the computer; monitor activity of all public safety units to determine status of incidents and location of units.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience : One year of emergency service dispatching which included responsibility for dispatching for law enforcement or fire services; AND

Education : High school diploma or equivalent

Certification : A POST-certified Public Safety Dispatchers' Basic Course certificate is required.

Special Requirement : The ability to demonstrate a typing speed of 40WPM is required, and all qualified applicants will be sent a notice to remotely take a typing test through the online testing provider eSkill.

THE POSITION

Depending on assignment, incumbents in this class perform social and fiscal case management for clients under probate and Lanterman-Petris-Short (L.

P.S.) and guardian conservatorships; estate management by investigating, collecting, inventorying, distribution and disposing of estate assets;

and assists in administering the business affairs of estates in probate. Incumbents perform technical paralegal duties and related duties as assigned such as case management involving conservatorship and / or decedent estates placed under the jurisdiction of the Public Administrator / Public Guardian / Public Conservator's Office.

Incumbent works closely with behavioral health, fiscal partners, facilities and related community agencies for the benefit of clients.

Assignments may vary in any of the three areas : Public Administrator, Public Guardian, Public Conservator. The incumbent follows general guidelines and procedures, applies provisions of applicable laws in providing client and estate management services.

In this position, incumbents may be able to workin a hybrid combination of in office work and remote work during the work week.

There are flexible schedules to promote a one day off every other weekfollowing probation.

IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT

The ideal candidate will possess Bachelor'sDegree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Welfare,Psychology or related field, AND have one year of recent workexperience in social case management OR estate management OR legalguardianship, OR conservatorship.

The ideal candidate will have demonstratedtime management and organizational skills. In addition, successful candidateswill have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and possess excellentcritical thinking skills, sound judgment and decision-making skills.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and / or Experience

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Welfare, Psychology or related field, AND One year of recent work experience in probate of estates, legal guardianship, conservatorship, estate management, or social work.

An Associates Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Welfare, Psychology or related field, AND Three years of recent work experience in probate of estates, legal guardianship, conservatorship, estate management, or social work.

A total of thirty (30) semester or forty five (45) quarter units from an accredited college with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Welfare, Psychology, or other related course work, AND Five years of recent work experience in probate of estates, legal guardianship, conservatorship, estate management, or social work.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid Class C driver's license is required.

Ability to be bonded.

Completion of California Association of Public Administrators / Public Guardians / Public Conservators certification is highly desirable.

Candidates may be required to pass a background investigation in accordance with applicable law, regulation and / or policy.

BENEFITS / WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage is $1,900.

58 per month for 2023. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage.

The County may offer a supplemental contribution for employees enrolled in Employee plus Two or More coverage.

Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.

Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.

The County observes 12 full day fixed and 2 half day fixed paid holidays per year. Additionally, employees in this bargaining unit receive 2 floating paid holidays per year.

Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 3 years. Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year.

Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years.

Extra-help employees who work less than 29 hours per week do not typically receive or accrue benefits of regular employees during their period of employment.

All extra-help employees accrue .034 hours of Sick Leave for every full hour worked.
