Job Summary
The Police Dispatcher is a specialized classification within the Fresno State Police Department. The Police Dispatcher provides essential dispatch communications.
Dispatchers are responsible for maintaining effective and efficient communications between the dispatch center, campus police officers, non-sworn department personnel, other university departments and personnel, outside emergency and law enforcement agencies, and the public.
The Police Dispatcher also plays a vital role in records maintenance.
Key Qualifications
- Knowledge of current office methods, practices, and procedures.
- Working knowledge of public safety-related agencies and the respective communication protocols.
- Ability to : Learn the use of applicable automated dispatch and law enforcement systems and databases.Effectively use a phonetic alphabet.

Dispatcher
MV Transportation is seeking a Dispatcher who work s to direct the day-to-day route operations and report to the Dispatch Supervisors.
This work is done in compliance with the procedures defined by the client and in conformance with company procedures. His / her duties involve daily communication and interaction with drivers and clients.
He / she must also organize and conduct activities to assure safe, cost-effective, on-time operating performance. Tracks and reports sign-in / sign-out times, assures routes are timely, and communicates service issues to the Dispatch Supervisors or Dispatch Managers as appropriate.
Job Responsibilities :
- Takes client calls and communicates issues with drivers and Dispatch Supervisors or Dispatch Managers as appropriate.
- Monitors radio, telephones and on-road provision of service for quality.

Responsibilities
- Obtains orders and changes to existing orders from customers and sales representatives
- Enters orders and printed tickets into the system
- Coordinates special jobs, service and scheduling
- Coordinates with outside trucking subcontractors and by radio with drivers, service, and sales representatives

The dispatcher is responsible for communicating back and forth with drivers and assist with problem resolution while on route.
In addition, create capacity, maximize productivity, and ensure prompt, courteous and efficient service to all customers and drivers.
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WOULD BE EXPECTED TO :
- Dispatch drivers to calls as they are received, coordinate customer needs, driver locations and loads, and scheduling factors to balance cost and speed of response
- Assign routes and service tickets to appropriate drivers throughout the day and for the next day, close service tickets each day
- Receive incoming calls and e-mails from customer service and sales department; manages requests for pick-up or container delivery and ensuring same-day service
