LAND DEVELOPMENT PRACTICE Through an integrated approach to all stages of land development, Michael Baker guides clients through the entire life cycle of a project, from due diligence, initial site planning, and entitlement approvals to final engineering, construction management and surveying.

DESCRIPTION The Civil Associate will be joining our robust Land Development team in San Diego, California and report to a Project Manager.

This group consisting of youthful and seasoned professionals has a legacy of focus on thoughtful, innovative, and efficient solutions to design challenges that are applied on high-profile Commercial, Industrial and Residential land development projects throughout Southern California.

  • Coordinate with design teams, agency contacts and Project Manager on delivering development design packages
  • Perform civil engineering design on land development projects including site design, site grading, earthwork balance, drainage, utilities, sanitary collection and water distribution systems, storm water management, erosion and sediment control designs / plans.
  • Collaborate with multiple civil disciplines working as a team to solve design challenges.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's Degree is a plus
  • 0-4 years of related experience
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Intermediate skills using various CAD and Microsoft Office programs with the potential ability to produce high quality design documents, exhibits, computations, and reports
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to efficiently work independently within a multi-disciplinary team and prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines COMPENSATION The hourly rate for this position is $35-$40 / hour.
