The Best Connection are working with our client based in Washington. They are a well-established light engineering company and due to increases levels of business they require time served Metalworkers / Welder Fabricator.
The roles are being offered on a temporary to permanent basis for the right candidates with an immediate start.
Duties include :
- Working with hollow section frames and material gauges between 1.5mm 10mm
- Experience of working from engineering drawings to create own jigs
- Producing a variety of projects within the industry from start to finish of project
- MIG and TIG welding
- Stick welding would be desirable but not essential
Hours of work :
- Monday Thursday 7.45am 4.30pm
- Friday 7.45am 1.00pm
Pay rate :
- £14.20 per hour basic rate
- £21.30 per hour overtime rate (time and a half)

Welder / Fabricator
About the job
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day fabrication and welding activities, ensuring the successful delivery of all projects on time and within agreed budget.
You will be expected to take responsibility for efficient planning and utilisation of the resource available, maintenance of high standards of quality, health and safety, and liaison with the Workshop Manager
About the successful applicant
You will ideally be qualified to at least a City & Guilds Fabrication and Welding skills where excellence in service is matched by a best-in-class health & safety record.
ideally hold a CSCS card and have proven experience in a welding / fabrication environment.
You will also be required to have previous experience in the following areas where possible :
- Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding
- Manual Metal Arc (MMA) welding
- Flux Core Welding
- Use of handheld tools including grinders
- General Machinist
- Ability to follow CAD engineering drawings where required and work instructions for each job
- Thoroughness and attention to detail - Ability to fault find and rectify.
You will also be required to have a full UK driving license as the role may require you to travel to sites throughout the UK.

Pipe Welder
Qualified candidates must coordinate and complete welding, construction and maintenance tasks as part of a pipeline crew and must be willing to travel.
DOT operational qualifications are required for working and welding on pipelines. Must be able to perform all phases of mobilizing, operating and maintaining heavy excavation equipment to include excavation frequently on loaded natural gas pipelines with a dedicated focus on safety.

Responsibilities
As a member of a high performing team, you will be providing exceptional service and helping team members do the same. Daily responsibilities may include :

Qualifications
- 2+ years of prior bench experience is preferred. Don't have the full 2 years of experience? Apprentice jewelers are welcome to apply!
- We are available to our customers when they need us so evening and weekend availability is a must. (Though unlike most retailers, we are closed on major holidays!)
- Must possess a high level of visual acuity and manual dexterity.
- Great ability to provide and receive feedback from peers, supervisors, and customers and adapt behavior with coaching.
- Comfortable with technology.
- Must be able to effectively manage deadlines.
- Must be able to demonstrate basic communication skills in both written and spoken English, as well as basic math.

In addition, business is conducted using the telephone and computer technology. Work environment includes noise, flame, tools, and utilization of standard bench jeweler equipment.
Travel is not required.
