Essential Duties

  • Sets up equipment and weld parts using arc, submerged arc, gas-shielded arc, mig and tig machines.
  • Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications, knowledge of system operation, and study of building plans / working drawings.

Meets and maintains quality and production standards for all work product.

  • Secures pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand tools.
  • Maintains the work area in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations (should support implementation of 6S).

Maintains required personal tools, and properly uses all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.

Ensures proper recording of time spent on individual work orders is accurate. Keeps the foreman and other key project personnel aware of all issues affecting production, schedule and cost.

Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the foreman. Notifies supervisor of equipment malfunction, and performs operator based maintenance as required.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.

Must be certified to weld using material types such as black iron, stainless and aluminum (Level II).

4+ years of experience as a Journeyman Welder preferred

Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures.

Experience in using electrical or manual tools.

Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.

Detail oriented with good organization skills and proven ability to initiate priorities based on general guidelines.

Knowledge of relative safety standards.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION :

The purpose of this position is to provide assembly and repair for metal structures, such as dumpsters, hydraulic systems and sanitation trucks, used in the collection and disposal of waste.

This is accomplished by the use of welding equipment for cutting, joining and brazing of a variety of metals and metal parts in repair, maintenance or fabrication tasks and minor automotive mechanical repairs.

Assignments are received in oral or written form and are occasionally accompanied by blueprints, drawings or specifications.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS :
