Amazon is seeking a Security Engineer to join the Foundational Security & Dedicated Clouds (FSDC) organization. Our organization is accountable for the end-to-end software vulnerability lifecycle across all aspects of AWS. We are responsible for building the platform that monitors intelligence, detects vulnerabilities, drives remediation response, and drives innovation to meet the scale and demand of all AWS customers. Working with teams such as EC2, S3, RDS, CloudHSM, Containers, and Amazon Linux requires us to dive deep into all aspects of first- and third-party software across AWS including Operating Systems, firmware, databases, service/system hardening, cryptography, and audit analysis. We are passionate about diving deep to identify and build solutions that keep our customers safe.

As a security engineer, you will help define and execute short-term and long-term strategy for vulnerability remediation. You're well-known for your excellent prioritization skills, as well as your ability to communicate at all levels of an organization (technical and non-technical). The successful candidate must be autonomous, comfortable operating in highly ambiguous situations, and relish the idea of solving security problems at scale.

Our organization is accountable for the end-to-end software vulnerability lifecycle across all AWS teams

The Graviton Software team is looking for performance engineering focused Sr Software Engineers to drive the optimization of open source and internal applications. AWS created Graviton as a strategic initiative to improve how software works at Amazon scale. We benchmark and improve internal and open source software, diagnose and fix issues to make sure we have available Graviton instances for customers and that customers are not affected by hardware, firmware or software bugs. By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to lead the innovation and deliver software that powers the world largest cloud provider.

As a Performance Sr Software Engineer, you will work on AWS services like Elastic Map Reduce, ElastiCache, and RDS to toubleshoot bottlenecks and to optimize the architecture, algorithms, and deployment on Graviton. You will also work on open source code, improving it and contributing the changes back to the community. You will play an instrumental role in driving the AWS roadmap to deliver cost-effective and performant computing systems. In this role you will use and further develop your deep knowledge in areas including experiment design, implementation, and data analysis. You will have the opportunity to understand and improve how AWS delivers on one of the most important shifts at the core of the data center: our migration to Arm applications.

AWS Graviton is a new Arm-based CPU developed by Amazon. It delivers up to 40% better price performance over x86-based instances for compute-intensive workloads. AWS teams like RDS, ElastiCache, and EMR depend on Graviton's high performance and lower overall cost to deliver products their customers love.

Do you enjoy finding unique security issues? Do you enjoy protecting customers at scale? On the AWS Penetration Testing team, you will be responsible for the delivery of continuous assessments. You will be asked to solve complex technology problems, build tools to automate your way out of manual efforts, and influence the way Amazon services respond to and mitigate threats.

Our team is responsible for the manual assessment of all products, services and software released by AWS. We specialize in digging deep to find security issues that static analysis tools can’t, and write the tooling to help with these goals whenever possible. The AWS surface area is large and diverse, and we use results found in manual analysis to help improve our enterprise-wide automation to proactively spot and fix potential security issues to protect customers.

We are looking for a Security Engineer to help ensure our services, applications, and websites are designed and implemented to the highest security standards. You will be responsible for application, and hardware penetration testing. You will be responsible for automating repetitive tasks using various scripting languages. You will be responsible for influencing Amazon services through the creation of threat mitigation plans. You will work directly with internal teams to solve challenging software problems.

Key job responsibilities
- Perform penetration testing complex proprietary software and hardware for AWS services
- Manually audit the source code of web services and software authored in house by Amazon
- Write proof of concept code to demonstrate the severity of a potential security issue
- Provide clear communication on issues to developers that suggest and help to test the fix
- Partner with AWS developers to drive improvement in application security as a result of security review engagements
