Job Description :
The purpose of this position is to provide an outstanding fine dining room experience for residents and guests while keeping in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, as well as our established policies and procedures as may be directed by the Dining Room Manager, Food Service Director, or Executive Director.
Responsibilities
- Set up dining room tables for meal service and other related events.
- Take residents' / guests' orders and serve them promptly.
- Follow regulations for safe handling of food and service items.
- Clear tables after meal service. Wash down tables and chairs.
- Effectively communicate with the Dining Room Manager, fellow servers, and kitchen staff to ensure proper food service experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dining Room Manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience required, preferably in a fine dining restaurant.
- Understand table service etiquette.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.
- Must be trainable.
- Ability to communicate with and relate well to the elderly population, the public, and staff courteously and diplomatically under all circumstances.
- Have good communication skills.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must be able to hear and interpret various noises / sounds, including background noises / sounds.
- Must be enthusiastic, bubbly, personable, energetic and positive.
- Team player; people person.

Summary :
- At Black Bear Diners, we have been serving Good Old Fashioned Family Food since 1995. We are a fun, family-friendly concept known for our great homemade food, large portions and genuine, friendly service.
- The overall responsibility for servers is to provide friendly, prompt, individualized service that creates a dining experience so positive that all guests will want to return.

Knowledge / Technical Expertise :
- Familiar with and practice all company standards related to position.
- Welcome and greet guests. Make all our guests feel comfortable and let them know you’re there to personally take care of them.
- Inform guests of specials and feature items.
- Answer questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services.
- Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our point-of-sale system.
- Deliver food and beverages to guests in a timely matter.
- Run food orders from the pick-up window promptly regardless of which server placed the order.
- Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as assigned.
- Maintain clean service areas.
- Monitor and observe guests dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests.
Pre-bus tables frequently.
- Prepare bill and present check to guest at appropriate point in service sequence.
- Clean and reset tables promptly. Clean chairs, booths, and surrounding carpet.
- Be ready and willing to assist fellow servers as situations arise.
- Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
Summary : Sales and service of Food and Beverage to guests. Presents guest with bill and accepts payment, server banking.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- First, be very knowledgeable about the menu items
- Immediately greet the guest.
- Display your personality. Be the individual you are.
- Take their drink order first
- Remind the guest of the daily specials and featured items menu
- Answer any questions the guest asks
- Deliver their drinks
- Take their order and send it to the kitchen
- The food runner or server will bring the items to the table. The food runner or server should verify for accuracy and then announce the items to the guests as the items are placed in front of the guest.
- The food runner or server asks if anything additional is needed such as extra pitas or condiments
- The server should consistently follow up with the guest. Verify happiness with food, refill drinks
- After guests are finished eating, pre-bus the tables. Provide a left over container if necessary for the guest.

- At check time, provide the guest the check in a check presenter.
- Thank the guest for coming in and welcome them back.
