Security Analyst

Under the direction of the Manager, Industrial Security and Regulatory Compliance, this Security Analyst position is responsible for a wide variety of security functions at RAND.

The successful candidate must have experience with process design, management and improvement and must be able to interpret and apply NISPOM and ICD guidance as well as Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regulations to RAND’s industrial security / physical security program in support of the Homeland Security Operational Analysis Center (HSOAC).

The successful candidate must have a strong customer service focus, perform well as a member of several cross-functional teams (Security and research units), and must be able to perform his / her job functions independently with a minimum of oversight.

Duties

  • Manage the fitness process of all new and current employees at RANDCoordinate with HSOAC leadership and DHS Security personnelCorrectly document process stepsProvide articulate, meaningful, and correct direction to RAND associates undergoing the fitness processProvide weekly and monthly reports to DHS as required by the contract
  • Process staff for DHS PIV cards for the enclave
  • Utilize / maintain multiple security databases and sites including DISS, e-QIP, and SIMS
  • Review contracts and task orders to determine security requirements
  • Manage DHS component fitness process
  • Research applicable changing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requirements and policies and recommend updates to RAND policies and procedures
  • Fingerprint applicants
  • Respond to Security Helpdesk and JIRA tickets
  • Liaise with DHS SSO for SCI access
  • Control, track, and process HSOAC classified visits
  • Prepare, present and maintain documentation of educational material to assist in RAND’s Security Education Program
  • Perform other tasks and projects as directed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to discreetly handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have advanced working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook.

Education

  • High School Degree or GED equivalency is required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience

A minimum of 2 years of government contracting or industrial security experience required.

Security Clearance

Must possess and maintain at least a Secret government security clearance, or if Secret government security clearance is no longer active, must have possessed a Secret government security clearance within the past 24 months.

Must be able to obtain and maintain DHS fitness.

  • This position can allow for a hybrid onsite / remote work arrangement of working remotely up to two days per week

Salary range : $60,900 - $90,800

What to expect as a Commercial Security Service Technician :

The Security Service Technician will be responsible for service, maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting / diagnostics on access control equipment and IP based video systems including but not limited to : electrified and non-electrified locks, card readers, ancillary door devices, IP and analog cameras, head-end video recording devices, wired and wireless systems and intercom systems.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Provide phone and on-line remote diagnostic support

What knowledge and skills are required :

  • High School Degree, Vocational School or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of field experience
