What You’ll Do
The Security Officer is responsible for protecting patients, staff, visitors, hospital property and grounds.
The successful candidate will be able to :
- Patrol grounds and buildings and secure assigned posts in order to provide sufficient protection to employees, patients, and visitors
- Direct and control vehicular traffic to ensure means of access and egress from the hospital
- Respond to specific requests for assistance in security related matters and investigate incidents to ensure appropriate follow-up action is taken
- Facilitate initiation of emergency and disaster procedures in a timely and efficient manner

The Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the City & County of Denver. DPL sees more than 4 million visitors every year across its 27 locations, serves Denver’s most vulnerable communities through outreach and mobile services, hosts thousands of programs a year and manages a collection of more than 1.
The Rodolfo Corky Gonzales Branch Library is a very busy community library that provides services to the West Colfax neighborhood.
We are located in a diverse West Colfax area near many schools, parks and businesses. We average 450 visitors per day including many children and families during after school hours with a very active Teen Advisory Board TAB.
The successful candidate should have great customer service, great communication skills and ability to work with people of all ages, diverse backgrounds in a singular point.
We are looking for a Security Officer to help create positive experiences for library customers by maintaining a safe and secure environment for customers and staff.
You will receive on the job training to develop skills and abilities related to the position, including certification in First Aid, CPR and in the usage of an AED, Narcan usage, defensive tactics and verbal de-escalation training.
You will create a welcoming environment for the whole community in alignment with our library use policy. Daily duties include patrolling the entire building throughout the day.
You will be responsible for opening the building and securing the building at closing. You will address behaviors that violate our library use policy while using a trauma informed approach and de-escalation techniques to ensure everyone’s safety.
This position requires communication with the safety and security team at the Central Library, and includes writing incident and accident reports.
