PURPOSE :

Berry Global is looking for a packer inspector. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for operating thermoplastic extruders and associated production equipment to convert plastic resins into blown film for flexible plastic sheeting, tubing or bags, and efficiently producing a finished product on a timely basis that meets all customer product specifications.

This is a seasonal role and will end in August

Responsibilities

  • Alert Setup Technician and Changeover Technician using the light system to keep them informed of production status
  • Keep the work area clean and clutter free : pick up scrap material around the production lines and cut scrap off cores.
  • Perform quality control checks on product and ensure all are properly labeled before stacking finished product.
  • Packages bags / rolls and keeps accurate counts in computer system
  • Helps the team give 10 and 20 minute breaks
  • Alerts Setup Techs to questions or concerns by utilizing white stack light
  • Assembles boxes
  • Performs quality control checks on product and labels
  • Stacks finished product
  • Help pick up scrap around his / her lines, including change-over rolls.
  • Throws away all labels from previous job
  • Keeps work area clean and clutter free; including tables, scales and floors
  • Weighs boxes and enters into the computer system
  • Pulls resin as needed
  • Weighs, packages and labels finished product
  • Might be used for training new person.
  • Works a 12 hour day, 4 days a week; every other weekend is mandatory

Production Operator- Seasonal DaysThis position is responsible for daily operations of the production floor; ensuring the shift meets established safety, quality, and production goals in compliance with all applicable legal and food safety requirements.

Essential Functions

Job Duties :

Receiving / Put-Away - Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations. Prior to product storage, count all product, compare to manifest, and check all shipments for damage.

Report shortages, damages, and mis-shipments on appropriate form and forward to supervisor. Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas.

Order Picking - Efficiently pick customer orders for shipment, ensuring that the correct number and type of product is selected.

Carry or transport orders to proper staging locations.

  • Quality - Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances.
  • Loading - Efficiently move product from staging or storage areas into trailers. Ensure all product is safely stacked, wrapped and loaded in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Equipment - Safely and efficiently operate forklift or other material handling equipment as required and assist in the loading or unloading of merchandise as needed.

Use radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving, and storing functions as needed.

  • Inventory - Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Safety / Sanitation / Security - Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the distribution center.

Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as required. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety.

Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards.

Essential Competencies :

The Warehouse Associate must be able to read, count accurately, do simple math, and write legibly. The ability to complete a forklift training course and operate material handling equipment is an important skill.

He / she must also be capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. The ability to follow directions is extremely important.

Familiarity with computers and radio frequency equipment is beneficial.
