THE ROLE

The Restaurant Server reports to the Food & Beverage leaders and works in a team environment with other F&B professionals, including barbacks, bartenders, servers, dishwashers, cooks, and chefs.

It is critical the person in this position possess a background and knowledge in basic service techniques and has a natural ability to manage time.

As a server, you will be responsible for creating memorable guest experiences, and not being only an order-taker. You will be responsible for the timely and friendly delivery of food and drinks.

In depth menu knowledge is necessary to ensure safe service to guests with allergies and restrictions. Ongoing beverage tasting and trainings will allow you to expand your knowledge of beer, wine and spirits.

All of our service team members are expected to be reliable and responsible. You will arrive changed, polished and mentally ready to work on time.

We put an emphasis on treating each other just like we treat our guests, sharing a smile, a helping hand, and a willingness to jump in to assist in any situation.

You will also actively develop trusting and transparent relationships with your peers on the service team and other associates of the hotel.

After School Matters is a Chicago-based nonprofit organization that annually offers after-school and summer programs to nearly 19,000 Chicago high school teens to explore and develop their talents while gaining critical skills that will set them up for success in college and beyond.

Summary of Position :

The Seasonal Program Specialist’s primary responsibility is to facilitate and monitor the day to day logistics of After School Matters programs within an assigned branch.

The Program Specialist will conduct site visits, observations and provide recommendations regarding program quality, safety, compliance, instruction, program attendance, enrollment and retention and other critical issues.

Acting as the liaison between After School Matters and the program providers and community partners, the Program Specialist will communicate requirements, policy changes and other relevant information to ensure successful implementation of the program, payment to teens and instructors.

Major Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Act as a day-to-day contact person with instructors and school staff for programs;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with program partners and instructors;
  • Conduct regular program site visits of each program in their portfolio

  • Act as a trouble shooter in the areas of program implementation, logistics, and data collection;
  • Enter data into Cityspan;

  • Work with the Program Quality team, Program Operations and Contracting, to ensure that all assigned programs are in compliance with After School Matters policies and procedures;
