The San Diego State University School of Journalism and Media Studies (JMS) invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a tenure-track appointment in the area of Public Relations and Latinx / e Media at the Assistant Professor level to commence in Fall .

Responsibilities : We seek an outstanding public relations scholar to become a full-time faculty member. The successful candidate will bring the professional experience needed to teach public relations principles, writing, theory, research and foundational public relations skills.

Additionally, the candidate will have experience in, knowledge about, or research related to Latinx, Latine, Latina, Latino, and Hispanic media and / or audiences.

Expertise in digital public relations and the use of technology in the PR industry is also strongly desirable.

We welcome all applicants who fit the criteria above, but we particularly seek scholars working from the intersections of public relations, technology, corporate, advocacy and social responsibility.

Required Qualifications : 1) A terminal degree is required in public relations, mass communication or related discipline by the beginning of the Academic Year -.

2) Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in both teaching and research, in line with SDSUs teacher-scholar model.

3) Candidates should possess comprehensive and current knowledge in public relations, focusing on the industry and practice of the profession.

4) Ability to teach public relations courses, specifically public relations writing, principles, research and related media studies courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

  • Desired Qualifications : 1) An appreciation for journalistic writing and the Associated Press Stylebook and helping students master AP Style;
  • 2) Evidence of commitment to teaching, mentoring and service to underrepresented populations as evidenced by the candidates research / creative agenda, mentorship of underrepresented students and / or engagement with underrepresented communities;

3) Accredited in Public Relations, earned or in process; 4) Active in professional development organizations related to the public relations industry, such as Public Relations Society of America, Public Relations Student Society of America, ColorComm, Institute for Public Relations, etc.

Candidates should address how they meet two or more of the eight Building on Inclusive Excellence (BIE) criteria. SDSU has hosted a chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America since and was one of 12 founding participants in the Certificate in Principles of Public Relations program, launched in by the Universal Accreditation Board.

Since , SDSU has offered an exclusive fast-track M.A. program in collaboration with the Naval Postgraduate School that has educated more than military public affairs officers from the U.

Accountable for driving operational service excellence and improving customer partnerships through the execution of premier service delivery.

The Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of San Diego invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level with expertise in public law.

The candidate will offer courses that address the relationships between the law, politics, and structural inequity, with a specific expectation that they will regularly offer upper division courses in Constitutional Law and lower division courses in political theory and / or race and ethnic politics.

Within the scope of these parameters, the position is open to teacher-scholars of a variety of sub-disciplinary approaches to public law, including law & society, political theory, judicial politics, legal institutions, critical legal studies, politics of race & ethnicity, feminist legal theory, or comparative law.

The successful candidate will also contribute courses in other core areas of departmental curricular need and participate actively in student advising, including especially pre-law advising.

In addition to outlining their own interests in and approaches to teaching and research in a liberal arts environment, candidates should also describe how their research or teaching connects to one or more of the following three cluster themes in the College of Arts and Sciences.

The Department of Athletics, utilizing the services of over employees, is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University.

Currently, there are 18 sport programs, approximately student-athletes, and 17 offices in the department. The offices include the following : The Aztec Club / Development, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, External Corporate Sales, Equipment, Event Management / Facilities and Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.

The San Diego State University Athletic Media Relations Office has the primary responsibility for publicity of the Athletic Department’s varsity sports programs.

It serves as a liaison between the Athletic Department and the media. In line with those duties, the office publishes weekly press releases, coordinates press conferences for major announcements, maintains historical records and data, maintains up-to-date photo files, handles social media accounts for respective teams, maintains current team statistics, oversees department’s on-line Website, publishes the department’s printed materials, handles staging as it relates to media needs for home athletic events, arranges interviews for athletes and department personnel with local and national media representatives, seeks to procure publicity for athletic teams, coaches, staff, and student-athletes, and prepares information contained in game-day programs.

The incumbent will be the primary contact for a variety of varsity sports as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Communications and Media Relations.

The individual will develop and manage publicity for various teams, serving as a primary contact for Football, and an Olympic Sport.

  • The incumbent will coordinate and prepare editorial for media guides and game programs; coordinate game press operations for assigned sports;
  • prepare weekly news releases; coordinate photographic needs for assigned sports; maintain and update statistical records;

assist with social media, and maintain a website for assigned programs with accurate and current information. In addition, the individual will oversee the department’s media relations efforts for all Olympic sports as well as serving as the lead athletic department communicator with SIDEARM, the website provider for athletics.

This individual will also be involved with strategic planning initiatives for the department.

Specialized Skills

Minimum of Five years’ experience in an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics media relations office or professional sports team at a high level (e.

  • At least one year of experience as a primary contact for a revenue (men’s basketball or football) sport.
  • Able to advise high-profile coaches and student-athletes with interview techniques and utilize the media option(s) to best highlight his / her positives.

THE POSITION

Depending on assignment, incumbents in this class perform social and fiscal case management for clients under probate and Lanterman-Petris-Short (L.

P.S.) and guardian conservatorships; estate management by investigating, collecting, inventorying, distribution and disposing of estate assets;

and assists in administering the business affairs of estates in probate. Incumbents perform technical paralegal duties and related duties as assigned such as case management involving conservatorship and / or decedent estates placed under the jurisdiction of the Public Administrator / Public Guardian / Public Conservator's Office.

Incumbent works closely with behavioral health, fiscal partners, facilities and related community agencies for the benefit of clients.

Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage is $1,900.

58 per month for 2023. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage.

The County may offer a supplemental contribution for employees enrolled in Employee plus Two or More coverage.

Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.

Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.

The County observes 12 full day fixed and 2 half day fixed paid holidays per year. Additionally, employees in this bargaining unit receive 2 floating paid holidays per year.

Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 3 years. Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year.

Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years.

Extra-help employees who work less than 29 hours per week do not typically receive or accrue benefits of regular employees during their period of employment.

All extra-help employees accrue .034 hours of Sick Leave for every full hour worked.
