The Production Technician will be responsible for safely, reliably, and efficiently operating a cryogenic air separation plant in Hillsboro OR.

In addition to routine operating, the role will include performing or facilitating maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on plant equipment.

This position requires a combination of office work and field work. Must be willing to work rotating 12-hour shift schedule and adjust the schedule based on facility activities.

Some holiday, afterhours, or on-call work may be required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are needed. Attention to detail is a must.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Understand and adhere to company, customer, and regulatory safety work policies and operating practices. Report safety incidents and near misses.
  • Monitor process performance and make appropriate adjustments to maintain safety, reliability, quality, and efficiency.
  • Collect and interpret trends in equipment and process condition monitoring data.
  • Perform and document preventive and predictive maintenance tasks, utilizing a computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Read, interpret, and maintain process documentation such as P&IDs, schematic wiring diagrams, electrical drawings, and Operating procedures in compliance with MOC policies.
  • Lead cross-functional groups in in maintenance and / or troubleshooting of process issues, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, industrial instruments, and / or process analyzers
  • Coordinate scheduling of planned or requested maintenance and procurement of materials.
  • Permit and oversee contractors performing routine or non-routine work, as necessary.
  • Write, prepare and execute lock-out tag-outs.
  • Propose, prepare, and execute projects / recommendations to improve process availability & reliability, preventative & corrective maintenance strategy, and / or work processes.
  • Identify, procure, and manage spare and replacement system components. Raise needs to customer and management as required.
  • Maintain work area housekeeping and organization.

Qualifications

Qualifications :

  • Experience operating a production process or system, ideally in an industrial environment.
  • Experience working with or maintaining mechanical equipment, electrical systems, and / or industrial instrumentation (valves, actuators etc.).
  • Experience working with controls / HMI software (Wonderware, Rockwell, Siemens, etc.).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Associate Degree from a technical school is desired. Equivalent apprenticeship or certificate-based training program completion is accepted.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and revise engineering drawings such as P&IDs, schematic wiring diagrams, and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Capable of operating a forklift, overhead crane, or aerial work platforms according to company policy.
  • Capable to ascend tall structures and work at height. Specifically, by using ladders, scaffolding, and / or aerial work platforms.
  • Proficient with computers and office computer programs Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook

    • Implement Engineering Change Orders, including creating and / or revising process control documentation, tooling, fixturing and conducting operator training as necessary for assigned product line.
    • Promote safety awareness in accordance with company requirements and guidelines; ensure processes are designed for operator safety.

    Train operators in 5S and support visual factory activities.

    • Lead standard work and cell design activities utilizing Lean tools.
    • Develop and maintain product process control documentation.
    • Participate in the effort to develop, document and sustain Standard Work, and develop visual aids.
    • Work with Buyer / Planner on material cost reductions on product line parts and assemblies as well as supplier quality and new supplier development.
    • Design and develop machine tooling to aid in manufacturing cells.
    • Measure and define continuous improvement to increase process capability; identify and propose alternative methods and materials with regards to quality, manufacturability, cost and availability for increased reliability and improved customer satisfaction.
    • Ensure compliance and integration of regulatory requirements, (UL, ASME, etc.) into product line as defined by management, engineering, sales and marketing.
    • Be resident product line expert in quality, flow, lean manufacturing, and safety.
    • Evaluate manufacturing technological capability to meet required design, quality, and material specifications.
    • Support problem solving activities and warranty cost recovery related to quality.
    • Support Manufacturing to improve cost, quality, and throughput.
    • Perform quality audits on finished units and work in process.
    • Maintain logs and records in accordance with Quality System requirements.
    • Process Non-Conforming Product (NCP) Reports
    • Perform visual and mechanical inspections on parts and work in process for compliance to ASME & UL requirements
    • Participate in Material Review Boards for the disposition of non-conforming products.
    • Maintain the Quality System Plan and Production System
    • Monitor and perform tasks according to the calibration procedure.

    EDUCATION : Requires engineering degree, preferably in Manufacturing / Industrial or Mechanical Engineering

    MANAGEMENT : This position has no direct reports.

    QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS :

    • Minimum of 1 years Production / Manufacturing / Quality Engineering experience
    • Experience with Lean Manufacturing
    • Experience with Six Sigma methodology is a plus
