The Director of Pilot Health Services will serve in a leadership role within Delta’s Wellness team and a collaborative role with Flight Operations and other divisions to enhance the health and wellness of Delta pilots.

This role’s contributions to the Wellness team does additionally impact the overall wellness of all of Delta’s employees, their dependents and the communities we serve.

The Director will serve as a medical resource for Delta’s pilots system wide, regarding fitness for flight, medical questions, including, but not limited to, medications, immunizations and FAA medical certificate requirements.

The director will also assist in returning pilots to full flight status following illness or disability as quickly and as safely as possible.

The director will serve as a resource to Delta’s administrative groups regarding public health and safety issues regarding any natural, biological or man-made events.

  • Reports to Delta’s Managing Director Health and Wellbeing for Delta Wellbeing Initiatives and non-AME-specialized tasks, with a dotted line to Delta’s Vice President Flight Operations.
  • Responsible for all AME-specialized tasks, including Return-to-Work, Disability, Fitness-for-Duty, and DPAC-related activities.
  • Serves as Director of Health Services (DHS) for the Delta pilots as defined in the Pilot Working Agreement (PWA)
  • Pilot Health and Wellbeing
  • Preventative care and daily health maintenance considerations for pilots
  • Mental health awareness and education
  • Substance Abuse and Recovery awareness and education
  • Health plan considerations and provisions for pilots
  • Ad hoc support to the field Directors on pilot leaves related to sick and / or disability cases
  • Work as a liaison between the pilot’s AME, the FAA, and the disability provider to ensure a pilot’s medical case is handled completely and expeditiously
  • Represents the Company and its interests in matters regarding aviation medical policies and procedures for commercial airline pilots at the corporate, industry, and national level
  • Responsible for medical reviews, including Return-to-Work, as permitted under the PWA
  • Responsible for medical oversight of Delta’s pilot substance abuse and recovery programs (DPAC) to include :
  • DPAC HIMS AME selection, management, and support
  • Treatment center selection and management
  • Oversight for the DPAC testing program to include :
  • Testing administration providers
  • Testing protocols and providers
  • Post-result procedures and review
  • Medical advisor to the DPAC Steering Committee

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Candidate must be a Medical Doctor (MD) with a Senior AME designation from the FAA.
  • Possesses both a Doctorate of Medicine or Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine, and Board Certification in the candidate’s specialty
  • Candidate will have at least 10 years’ experience as an AME and at least 5 years’ experience as a Senior AME.
  • Previous experience as Director of Health Services or similar experience is desirable.
  • Readily builds and / or Maintains positive working relationships with leadership at the FAA.
  • Demonstrates an ability to communicate complex medical information effectively to pilots, Flight Operations’ leadership, labor relations, and medical professionals in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Competent in office management software specific to case management in the healthcare industry and office work in a corporate environment to include use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrates strong time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to challenge the status quo while maintaing consistency, professionalism, and full compliance with Delta's policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage change and support cross-divisional teamwork.

The purpose of this job is to perform the duties of bottling DEF fluid and packing filled containers for distribution and shipment.

In this role you will :

  • Operate machinery to fill containers with DEF
  • Label filled containers with correct product name and information
