Responsibilities :

  • Provide medical services to patients, inclusive of all functions necessary to provide medical care under the direction of the physician
  • Conducts comprehensive health assessments (initial, ongoing, discharge), identifies normal / abnormal health characteristics, develops plan of care, initiates appropriate interventions, and evaluates care outcomes on defined patient populations(s)
  • Performs delegated functions under physician supervision, such as differential diagnosis, use of prescriptive authority, and treatment according to practice guidelines, protocols, and / or standing orders.

Accepts accountability for outcomes in health care

  • Uses critical thinking skills and clinical judgement to work autonomously as defined by the Nurse Practice Act. Collaborates with the Physician and healthcare team members to manage / coordinate patient care
  • Record accurate consultation data in patients' records
  • Charting in the patient's medical record is routinely to be completed on the same day as the patient's visit
  • Instigate necessary invasive and non-invasive diagnostic tests or investigations and interpret findings / reports
  • Provide safe, evidence-based, cost-effective, individualized patient care
  • Contribute to the practice achieving its quality targets to sustain the high standards of patient care and service delivery
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the practice
  • Follow all internal policies and procedures; be accountable for completion of all operational tasks according to departmental guidelines to ensure appropriate clinical processing / documentation
  • See patients in a timely and efficient manner, stay reasonably on time for scheduled appointments in practice throughout the day, unless exceptional circumstances occur
  • Maintains current licensure and credentials. Remains current in practice
  • Responds and comply to requests for information including sending faxes and e-mails
  • Report statistics as required
  • Protects patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records in accordance to policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements
  • Follows all safety rules on the job. Reports all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the work place
  • Travels as necessary to other facilities
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements :

  • Recognized by the Texas Medical Board as a Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Prescriptive authority privileges through the State of Texas
  • BLS, ACLS
  • Must have reliable transportation for traveling
