ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for providing safe, comprehensive and compassionate clinical care
  • Assesses patient, synthesizes and analyzes data, orders diagnostic tests and therapeutic treatments, and evaluates clinical outcomes
  • Seeks and integrates the perspectives of interprofessional team members in developing and implementing the plan of care
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; prescribes medications and complex medical regimes while monitoring for desired and adverse outcomes, specific to the infant / child with high risk, complex acute, critical, or chronic conditions
  • Applies evidence based medicine pertinent to neonatal / pediatric populations
  • Continuously evaluates the relationships among access, cost, quality, safety and their influence on healthcare outcomes and sustainability
  • Assumes leadership role to establish and monitor standards of practice and to improve patient care through sharing knowledge, leading teams and developing programs
  • Constant consideration of childs development, familys readiness and resources when translating health information, education and support
  • Demonstrate understanding of internal and external rules, regulations and legislation as it relates to APP practice, licensure, certification and billing compliance
  • Maintains accurate log of credentialed procedures performed. Demonstrates competency and expertise when performing credentialed procedures / specialty skills
  • Serves as an advocate for the needs of the children and their families across the health care continuum ensuring the best patient / family experience possible

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Satisfy all relevant criteria and qualifications outlined in the Medical Staff Policy on Allied Health Professional, required to be credentialed
  • Maintains practice agreement with service of specialty, and practices within framework of respective scope of practice
  • Must be knowledgeable in billing regulation practices to include documentation requirements / CPT coding regulations
  • Knowledge of physical, mental, developmental, emotional and social needs of the neonate, infant, toddler, pre-school, school age and adolescent patients
  • Maintains current knowledge and skill level in field through reading appropriate journals, networking, and attendance at conferences or seminars
  • Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure, and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with multiple disciplines
  • Ability to be self-directed, with minimum supervision, and detail oriented

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in the Physician Assistants program required
  • Previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in pediatrics / neonatal preferred

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS :

  • Current and valid unrestricted Nebraska state licensure (e.g., APRN, PA, RN,) required
  • Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association is required
  • Current and valid Pediatric Advanced Life support (PALS) required, within 6 months of hire
  • Maintain active Federal DEA license required. Must obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Current and valid nationally recognized APP board certification required
