Job Description :

Contributes to development and direction of long-range staffing plans and strategies for Halifax recruitment and retention.

Oversees daily clinical anesthesia staffing and contributes to cohesive ongoing clinical scheduling by cultivating and maintaining productive relationships and communications with Halifax leadership and colleagues in clinical specialties and subspecialties practicing at Halifax.

Ensures accurate and responsive billing practices, including process improvements, training, and policy compliance.

Contributes to development, implementation, and enforcement of policies toward all aspects of the Halifax anesthesia practice, including provider performance, patient safety, quality improvement, clinical scheduling, and finance / billing.

Provides leadership toward the patient safety and quality improvement program, including development of objective, quantitative measures for practice improvements for Halifax anesthesia providers.

Provides quarterly reports to the departmental Anesthesia Practice Improvement Committee (APIC). Participates in the departmental Morbidity and Mortality conference, including presentations from Halifax clinicians at least twice per year.

Abides by and enforces all policies of the University of Florida, the UF College of Medicine, the Department of Anesthesiology, and Halifax Medical Center.

Represents UF Department of Anesthesiology interests at Halifax. Maintains communication with UF Department of Anesthesiology leadership and enforces departmental policies and priorities.

Ensures that physician and anesthetist staff members understand their rights and responsibilities as employees of the University of Florida.

Provides full scope of clinical patient care and services which fall under field of training including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventative care, and health maintenance to patients at UF Health Regional Network clinical sites.

  • Works collaboratively with members of the healthcare team including pharmacists, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff.
  • Reviews incoming reports (e.g. lab, x-ray, EKG) and follows up in a timely manner.

Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.

  • Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  • May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program or patient care unit
  • Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and / or infection control standards.
  • As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and / or prevention programs.
  • Participates in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical and operational meetings as requested
  • Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice, as requested.

Expected Salary :

Commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements :

Licensed to practice medicine in accordance with Chapter 458, Florida Statutes* plus four years of appropriate experience.

Completion of a residency program may substitute for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications :

Specialty License or Certification; Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty; Certification / Licensure in the state of Florida and Federal DEA Certification.

The PA consults and refers with dermatologists, dermatopathologists and dermatology surgeons to provide comprehensive care.

  • Recognizes deviations from normal skin assessment. Works in collaboration with a physician in formulating treatment plans for health problems and follow-up.
  • Monitor, and report development or changes in patients' health conditions and also maintain accurate records of patients' medical history.
  • Develops, implements and evaluates a plan of care that is appropriate for the patient.
  • Orders appropriate laboratory tests according to practice guidelines.
  • Administer medications, injections and performs treatments and procedures for all patients.
  • Writes prescriptions for medication and if necessary modifies patient treatment plans.
  • Provides medical support to staff, triaging and implementing care in a knowledgeable and skillful
  • manner, as evidenced by team feedback and documentation in medical records.
  • Provides assistance to physicians in the care and treatment of patients.
