Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Performs a variety of general medicine occupational and disability health examinations including reviewing medical history and associated records, interpreting clinical data, completing written reports and generating independent medical opinions (IMO).

Examinations may be completed in person (in a clinic setting), in the examinee’s home, telephonically, or using telehealth platforms.

  • Occupational health exams to include pre- and post-employment and annual physicals
  • Generalist approach to multi-system disability evaluations to include evaluations of conditions specific to the military operational environment like Gulf War and Prisoner of War
  • Most examinations are in person evaluations but some may be completed virtually or by medical record review only
  • General Aid and Attendance or Housebound physical examinations
  • Completion of Veterans Benefits Administration Disability Benefit Questionnaires (DBQs)
  • Provide primary medical evaluations to include, but not limited to, initial review of laboratory, pulmonary function and ECG studies Documentation of examinee records in appropriate systems
  • Collaboration with other professional and support staff as needed and communicate with internal and client team members in determining the most effective and evidence-based way forward on behalf of the examinee population
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Minimum 5 years of post-graduate primary care experience
  • Specialty / sub-specialty clinical experience also valued but not required
  • Experience conducting occupational / disability medical examinations preferred but not required
  • Receive a medical clearance that consists of passing an N95 respirator fit test, pass a Tuberculosis / TB test and receive a Hepatitis A / B vaccine series or pass a Hepatitis A / B Titer test.

Pay and Benefits :

Salary : $130,000.00 - $140,000.00 with a potential annual bonus up to 30%.

POSITION DESCRIPTION :

Under the direction of the National Medical Director, physician supervisors and in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) of U.

S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), contracted physician assistants deliver healthcare services to persons in custody in accordance with the polices and protocols listed in the Statement of Work (SOW) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) directives for the delivery of healthcare services to persons in custody.

Physician assistants share the administrative functions that directly impact medical services and collaborates with the management team in overall planning and execution of program directives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Performs under the administrative direction of a Physician, the Physician Supervisor, Pediatric Advisor or in their absence the Deputy National Medical Director.
  • Work in alongside uniformed Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Agents / Officers in secured federal facilities along the southwest border of the United States
  • Maintains non-involvement in the security aspect of patient care and custody.
  • Provides first aid, emergency medical services, health examinations, or nursing services to employees.
  • Interacts with injury management, workers compensation, and outside compensation providers.
  • Gives information to employees in health education and illness prevention.
  • Prepares, maintains, records, accident reports, and statistical data associated with incidents, health history, and injuries occurring at worksite.
  • Maintains inventory of EMS equipment and first aid supplies.
  • Assists in performing drug and alcohol testing at worksite, overseeing other health issues such as drinking water, food preparations, and safety of living areas.
  • Under broad direction, performs duties by following established procedures.
  • Exercises judgment within generally defined procedures and current regulations in selecting methods and techniques for treatment.
  • Has a knowledge of techniques used in this QHSE specialization.
  • Applies knowledge to work scope and is accountable for less experienced workers in the medical field.
  • Completes all annual training as directed.
  • Duties will be performed on-site at medical units, which may rotate within a specific region or sector.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS :

  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience as a licensed Physician’s Assistant in direct patient care.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program located in a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory.

Must be accredited by the Accreditation Review

Commission on Education for Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessors. The degree issuing institution and / or program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.

S. Department of Education.

  • Experience in detention / correctional healthcare, ambulatory care, or a pediatric setting encouraged, but not required.
  • Alertness and skill in providing care and reacting to emergency situations.
  • Interpersonal skills to develop a rapport with patients and co-workers during which instructional and educational information is presented or shared.
  • Basic safety, infection control, quality assurance, records management, statistical information gathering, etc.
  • Skill in collecting a variety of laboratory samples.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION :
