Personal Care Assistant PCA – Philadelphia
We are currently seeking Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) for part-time and full-time schedules working with students in the Philadelphia, PA area.
Most zip codes!) These are in-person, community-based positions providing academic and behavioral supports to students that attend cyber school.
Schedules and locations will vary between students but you have the flexibility to choose which cases work best for you.
These positions would start immediately and continue during the 2023-2024 school year. Eligible candidates must have up-to-date PA clearances and reliable transportation.
Qualifications
- Must have a High School Diploma
- Must have up-to-date clearances (from within one year) FBI FingerprintsPA Criminal Background ClearancePA Child Abuse Clearance
- Must have a valid CPR / First Aid certificate

Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on attention and personalized help with assignments
- Initiate and follow through with behavioral interventions in an appropriate manner
- Handle problems quickly and efficiently
- Collects data on the student’s IEP goals for the purpose of maintaining accurate records and engaging in data
based decision making.
- Communicate with the teacher / family regarding student progress / behavior / special needs
- Participate in planning meetings regarding communication, academic, vocational, and behavior needs of students and contribute to the development of goals and strategies in these areas
- Help students follow individual daily schedules
- Assists students for the purpose of attending to the student’s personal hygiene and care needs

The Resident Assistant will work in our personal care household.
What will I do in this role with Garden Spot?
As a Resident Assistant, supporting the Garden Spot Communities’ mission will include the following responsibilities :
Encourage residents to remain active and attends social functions and
programs.
Assist in the implementation of activity programs as needed.
Assist in the personal care of the residents as needed. These duties may
include : assistance with bathing & continence care, oral hygiene, hair
grooming & shampooing, dressing, care of clothes, shaving & nail care, care
of personal possessions, use of telephone, scheduling of appointments and
reminders of those appointments, activities, ambulation, bed-making &, the
weekly linen change.
Assist with the admission of new resident tasks such as unpacking,
orientation to the room and facility, schedule of activities, meal times, etc.
Respond promptly to resident call bells.
Assist at meal times with services as per departmental policy.
Responsible to take and document vital signs : temperature, pulse,
respirations, blood pressure, weight and accu checks.
Makes continuous and frequent rounds to observe and check on residents’
comfort and safety.
What do I need for this role with Garden Spot?
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in healthcare or related field preferable, but not
essential.
Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain after hire).
Diabetic Training (or willingness to obtain after hire).
Understanding of and willingness to live out our mission and values offering
compassionate personal care to our residents.
Med Tech certification is a plus

Understands and follows all company policies as well as all local, state, and federal rules and regulations as they apply to services delivered for all residents, including updates and amendments to those rules, regulations and policies.
This involves resident care and documentation, and compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and Blood Borne Pathogen Guidelines.
Works in a safe manner in conjunction with other employees. Reports any unsafe actions immediately to supervisor and ensures such actions are corrected.
Compliant with Safety Committee Standards.
Fosters teamwork with co-workers, takes actions which assist others beyond job responsibilities, and has a positive impact on co-workers, residents, and visitors.
Communicates between Personal Care Assistants on resident needs.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

Responsibilities :
- Multi-task effectively while remaining calm and professional under pressure.

- Manage payments and record keeping of personal accounts.
- Receive internal and external phone calls, emails, and mail; relay important information in a timely manner.
- Make travel arrangements including flight, accommodation, and transportation.
- Maintain an accurate events calendar and send reminders.
- Typing, formatting, and editing reports, documents, and presentations.
- Other tasks as needed.
Qualifications :
- 2+ years as an assistant or in a role performing supportive duties.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, organization, and time management abilities.
- Comfortable meeting deadlines and handling confidential information.
- Observe best business practices and etiquette.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, sit and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred; High school diploma or equivalent certificate of completion required.
- Must be able to successfully pass a motor vehicle search.
- Proficient in MS Office and ability to learn new systems.
