Responsibilities
We are looking for valued employees who will be Champions of the Select Medical Way, which includes putting the patient first, helping to improve quality of life for the community in which you live and work, continuing to develop and explore new ideas, providing high-quality care and doing well by doing what is right.
You will be treating patients with complex needs and challenging diagnoses, and you will have the opportunity to develop specialized skills.
- Participating in discharge planning for each patient, including placement, patient / family education and adaptive equipment.
- Supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, as well as supervising OT and COTA students.
- Ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met.
- Conducting individual patient therapy regimens.
- Monitoring patient's response to treatment and modifying treatment during sessions, as needed.
- Completing appropriate documentation according to department policies and procedures.
- Participating in departmental, hospital, and community continuing education seminars and in-services.
Qualifications
You will demonstrate an understanding of patient needs, ensuring that each patient feels informed and understood, as well as heard.

Minimum requirements :
- Must hold a valid, current license in the State in which they are practicing.
- Possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date.
- Graduation from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
- Eligibility to take or has passed the examination for Occupational Therapists administered by the NBCOT.
- Successful completion of the National Registry Examination.

Occupational therapist
FileContents The Children's Home of Pittsburgh is seeking Pediatric Occupational Therapist Contract Workers to join us in providing Early Intervention home based services to patients birth to age 3 in Allegheny County.
The OT will be responsible to implement EI services according to child IFSP. Therapists will have the ability to determine availability and schedule.
Therapists will have the opportunity to collaborate with other occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech language therapists, and developmental specialists.
Office space will be available as needed for administrative tasks related to caseloads. Desired Job Experience Minimum Skills and Abilities Required : 1.
Early Intervention experience preferred. 2.
Maintains current Occupational Therapy License in the State of Pennsylvania. 3.
Maintains current NBCOT certification. 4.
Capacity to develop proficiency in the performance of various treatment protocols. 5.
Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to effectively communicate and work with all staff including other therapists and members of the medical team. 6.
Experience in designing developmental treatment plans and feeding plans. 7.
Must have working knowledge of computers to complete documentation electronically and in a timely manner. Other Qualifications Functional Requirements : 1.
Must be able to perform occupational therapy services a minimum of eight hours per day. 2.
Ability to sustain moderate physical activities including but not limited to getting on and off dynamic therapy equipment, sitting and moving on the floor, kneeling, and standing up numerous times, ability to hand suspended equipment from ceiling hooks, ability to move children in and out of developmental positions, ability to transfer children to wheelchairs, beds, cars, etc. 3.
Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds independently. 4.
Ability to communicate information in a professional and courteous manner with other staff and families. 5.
Manual dexterity necessary to operate medical equipment, computer, telephone system, and other equipment. 6.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle and / or access other means of transportation in order to travel locally for business related to The Children's Home. 7.
Displays strong decision making and problem-solving skills. 8.
Demonstrates professional behaviors.

- Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.
- A current and valid license granted from the state of employment
- Screens / evaluate all residents to determine the need for Occupational Therapy
- Establishes an individualized treatment program with a consultation to facility staff in areas of Occupational Therapy
- Provides results of the evaluation and treatment objectives to caregivers, family members, and residents
- Completes all documentation as required by the fiscal intermediary, within the designated time frame

Responsibilities
Occupational Therapist :
Initiates skilled occupational therapy treatments in accordance with physician’s orders; maintains required contact with physician.
Maintains written evaluations, progress notes, MDS records and discharge summaries for residents in occupational therapy program.
Confers with other health care staff regarding special needs of residents to enhance rehabilitation or maintenance of function.
Provides input for the Resident Care Planning meetings and attends during absences of the Director of Occupational Therapy.
Maintains statistical records of residents’ treatments.
Assists with in-service training programs upon request.
Records and updates resident’s care plan.
- Submits requisition for supplies needed in the treatment of residents to Director of Occupational Therapy.
- Assumes all duties of the Director of Occupational Therapy, if applicable, during absences including supervision of COTA’s and Occupational Therapy Aides.
Assumes responsibility for all necessary documentation.
Qualifications
Occupational Therapist :
Graduation from an approved school of occupational therapy required.
State license to practice occupational therapy required.
Two years’ experience in occupational therapy preferred.
Interest in occupational therapy treatment programs for the geriatric and subacute populations utilizing a team approach.
Ability to direct others necessary.
Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing required.
Current, valid CPR / BLS credential
Sense of responsibility and ability to work well with residents, families, and other staff members required.
Qualities of maturity, diplomacy, and ability to work well with others required.
Ability to work with geriatric and chronically ill residents, as well as other professionals in a friendly and helpful manner necessary.
Ability to perform tasks to established standards of excellence required.
