The Music Therapist is an important part of the Behavior Support Team at The HeartShare School. The Music Therapist reports to the Educational Director and will provide music therapy services to the children in conjunction with support from the Special Education Teacher.
Some of the duties the Music Therapist has includes :
- Provide group music therapy to all classrooms at least once per day
- Initiate contact with families of students on individual caseload as well as the other members of the treatment team at HeartShare to ensure ongoing communication regarding the student’s progress
- Collaborate and communicate with other members of the interdisciplinary team to assist students with meeting IEP goal
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher to develop music therapy treatment goals, based on the student’s IEP
Qualifications
Job Qualifications :
- Master’s Degree in Music Therapy
- Board Certified Music Therapist licensed in NY
- Must not have worked for the NYCDOE in the past year

- Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functions of the chamber music program including registration; creation of the monthly chamber music faculty payroll report;
works with the Assistant Dean and Director of Chamber Musicin the administration of special chamber music projects. This is a 52-week position.
The salary for this role is $65,000-$75,000 per year (52 weeks).

Role Responsibilities :
Update and maintain registration databases for the 100+ ensembles in the School’s program, in timely communication with appropriate offices and 75 chamber music faculty members;
supporting students’ understanding of their responsibility in the chamber music process
- Administer the application process, overseeing budget, programming, scheduling, production and payroll, working closely with the Communications and Concert Offices for ChamberFest
- Administer all aspects of scheduling and concert production for chamber music, managing course materials and work-study participants and maintaining attendance records for the first-year undergraduate String Quartet Survey class
- Administer all aspects of producing 10-15 performances per year at non-Juilliard venues
- Hire and supervise up to five work-study students for general office assistance
- Assist with the coordination of any chamber music master classes, maintaining accurate records regarding all chamber music activities at Juilliard, and advising students on chamber music opportunities, both within the School and outside
- Assist the Assistant Dean and Director of Chamber Music, as needed
- Assist in rostering Music Division projects and presentations as required, including building rehearsal schedules and communicating with students, faculty, and guest artists
- Coordinate admissions process for annual Juilliard String Quartet Seminar and oversee and support logistics of seminar
- Assist in administering and implementing Juilliard’s current and future developing summer music programs as needed
- Continually look for efficiencies for the optimal implementation of Chamber Music program in systems and software
- Works with the Assistant Dean and Director of Chamber Music as a liaison between the Juilliard String Quartet and The Office of Admissions to ensure all application updates are clear and communicated to applicants for the Graduate Resident String Quartet
Minimum Requirements :
- Bachelor of Music degree, or equivalent
- Knowledge of performing arts in general and chamber music in particular
- Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills, extreme accuracy and attention to detail
- Courteous, diplomatic, and accessible manner
- Awareness and dedication to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging for all students and Juilliard community as a whole
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and make decisions under pressure

Preferred Background :

1. M.A, B.A or equivalency in Music Therapy and eligible to obtain Certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapy, within one year of start date.

Music director
POSITION SUMMARY
Come join a diverse team committed to empowering youth to transform their cities through an innovative approach that links leadership, faith formation, learning, and the arts : employing local youth to lead after-school programming for school-age children in their own neighborhoods.
The Music director will lead the implementation to the Music School embedded in the New City Kids After School Center and provide musical training and support for all teens serving as music teachers.
The Music Director will also work to create and develop the musical components of regular center programming, worship team, and major events / fundraisers and will support and provide mentoring and coaching to members of the teen staff and worship team while supervising the music team.
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Music School Abide by and embody all of the training, protocol and vision set forth in the Music School Manual. Oversee the preparation and implementation of curriculum for all music classes across all sites, including but not limited to, drums, keyboard, bass, band, and performing arts.
Spearhead, be the vision holder and caster of the established Music School Vision and Priorities. Set and maintain music school culture ensuring that children receive high quality music education and are inspired to continue in their instrument.
Create and track annual music program goals and provide reports to leaders on results. Oversee instrument inventory. Set and manage yearly music budgets for all sites and music programs.
- Supervise Music Adult Team - Supervise and lead a team of Teaching Artists and Music Coordinators. Manage recruiting, orientation, training, curriculum oversight, and evaluation.
- Direct Music Camp Lead an intensive training music camp for teen music teachers to learn their instrument, learn how to teach, and prepare them for leading their After School Center classes.
Work with the Associate Director to establish camp timing, structure, and goals.
Support Teen Program Needs Work closely with Center Directors and Teen Programming Director to determine the number of teens and the skills that are required during the teen hiring process.
Work with Teen Programming Director and job coaches so that teen teachers are knowledgeable in their instrument and are providing leadership in their classrooms, fostering their own leadership development and creativity.
Act as live coach to any music class offered and occasionally teach when needed.
Support Program Music Needs Lead teen and kid musicians to play for worship and games as needed within programming (e.g.
Community Time during After School Center, opening sessions in Summer Camp). Create raps, songs, and curate worship song lists for Community Time and ensure quality worship time.
Work with the Center Director to create semesterly performances celebrating class progress.
Direct Worship Team Work with Music Coordinator to recruit, train, and lead a group of teen musicians and singers to lead worship in and outside of New City Kids.
Facilitate rehearsals throughout the year preparing teen worship team for church visits, community events, and large fundraisers.
Staff church visits on Sundays, as well as lead the preparation for events.
- Coordinate Music for Events Provide musical excellence and contributions for New City Kids fundraisers and events. Bring creative leadership and or support over NCK productions and events.
- Relational Support - Serve as a one on one mentor to 4-5 teens and intentionally build relationships with teens.
- Community Liaison - serve as a connection point between NCK and the larger Jersey City community, including current and new relationships in school-based programs, music organizations, local artists, churches and government / NGOs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Constantly moves about the center during programming hours
- Regularly moves music equipment, supplies, and furniture weighing up to 50 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent administrative skills and strong attention to detail
- Able to inspire young kids, teens, and adults and communicate to all age groups
- A natural leader who can set culture and galvanize a team
- Excellent musicianship with understanding of music theory. Strong ability to converse with other musicians. Expert in one or more of the instruments offered (keys, bass, drums, vocals).

Enjoys listening, spending time with teens, able to gain the trust of teens, and is a professional and mature role model for teens.
- Affinity for gospel and / or pop - Enjoys playing, teaching contemporary / traditional gospel music; pop music a plus.
- Affinity for Children and Teens enjoys being with kids aged 6-18 and can communicate at an age-appropriate level.

DETAILS
- Compensation : $54,000 - $63,000 starting salary plus benefits
- Hours : Full time. Workweek schedule will fluctuate; generally Monday-Friday, approximately two evenings
- per week. Approximately 15 weekend commitments per year.
