Full-time Licensed Mental Health Therapist Needed at Our Psychiatry MD Office in Newark, NJ
We are seeking a compassionate mental health therapist to join our team, providing specialized mental health care to individuals affected by trauma.
Our outpatient office is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for trauma survivors. We specialize in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders.

Work Schedule :
Monday to Friday : 9 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM
Some flexibility in scheduling may be required based on patient needs.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate patients' trauma history and identify appropriate treatment approaches.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on trauma recovery and resilience-building.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
- Deliver individual and group therapy sessions to help patients process trauma, develop coping strategies, and promote healing.
- Collaborate closely with psychiatrists and other professionals to ensure integrated care for patients.
- Provide crisis intervention and support during trauma-related emergencies.
- Educate patients and their families about trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and available resources.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Participate in case consultations, team meetings, and professional development activities focused on trauma-informed care.
- Stay up to date with the latest research and best practices in trauma therapy.
Requirements
Qualifications :
- Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state.
- 2 years of post-licensure experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of trauma-related disorders, trauma-informed treatment modalities, and resilience-building approaches.
- Experience delivering trauma-focused therapies and interventions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and non-judgmental approach.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and computer applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

We are seeking Case Manager / Mental Health Counselor for The Doe Fund's newest permanent supportive housing program for homeless men and women living with HIV / AIDS.
The program is designed to provide long-term residential care and twenty-four-hour support services in a community environment that maximizes residents' independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security and well-being.
Seventy-four units will be allocated for residents referred by the New York City HIV / AIDS Services Administration (HASA) and forty-nine apartments will be for families referred by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).
The Case Manager / Mental Health Counselor is responsible for providing supportive case management services to the HASA-funded residents.
The successful candidate will have strong clinical and communication skills along with an understanding of working with the HIV / AIDS population.

The Ideal Candidate :
- You have a Master’s Degree in Social Work or a related field required

- You have at least 5 years of experience in the mental health field
- You have a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) certification is a plus

- You have solid computer skills internet, Microsoft Office, and charting database

Key Responsibilities :
- Maintain a caseload and provide regular case management services to these individuals
- Maintain resident records in compliance with agency and funding standards
- Conduct and review assessments
- Develop and implement individual Service Plans and assist residents with achieving their goals geared toward self-sufficiency
- Monitor and ensure residents are linked to healthcare providers
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention as necessary
- Assist residents in securing and maintaining benefits
- Maintain a liaison with community services including hospitals, substance abuse treatment programs, HRA, and mental health programs
- Facilitate groups and activities that promote health and independent living skills development
- Monitor and assist residents with rent payments and budgeting
- Conduct regular unit inspections
- Educate residents about approaches to mental health
- Compile resources on mental health information and treatment strategies
- Attend ongoing training to enhance the services provided to the residents
- Assist with the completion of HASA’s weekly and monthly reports as well as any other relevant reports
