Job Description : Responsible for the analysis of laboratory specimens and subsequent result reporting according to laboratory protocol and procedures.
This position acts as a resource for Medical Laboratory Technicians and Lab Assistants. Supports and assists Lead Medical Technologist.
Qualifications
Education : B.S. Degree in Medical Technology (ASCP) or equivalent as defined by CLIA?88
Experience : 3 years experience as Medical Technologist preferred
Technical Skills : General bench tech skills required to provide coverage in all modalities
License / Certification : Nevada State License as Clinical Laboratory Technologist. ASCP or equivalent board registration / education required upon hire

Experience :
Three years of as Medical Technologist is preferred.

License / Certification :
Nevada State Licensure as Clinical Laboratory Technologist. ASCP or equivalent board registration / education required to satisfy Nevada License requirements must be maintained.
New CLS graduates must receive certification within 6 months of hire.
New graduates or applicants that do not currently have a NV license, must obtain a NV state provisional license prior to hire and must obtain a permanent license upon expiration of the provisional license.
Other :
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide high quality of patient care appropriately (specific age competent).
Must possess appropriate people skills, organization and attention to detail. Must desire to act as a resource and provide assistance as required.

Responsibilities
Job Summary :
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Manager, Director , and Medical Director, the Medical Technologist performs clinical testing in one or more of the following areas : blood bank, chemistry / serology, hematology / urinalysis / coagulation, microbiology and / or Point of Care Testing.
- The Technologist obtains or receives specimens, performs laboratory tests according to written procedures, understands methods and principles, performs and evaluates quality control on a daily basis and informs the Supervisor or Laboratory Manager of problems.
- The technologist performs preventative maintenance on instrumentation and interprets results as to their accuracy, acceptability and critical limits and organizing work to meet established deadlines and record all data obtained.
- The technologist is also responsible for instruction of MT and MLT students. S / he will meet the department's scheduling needs, which may include on-call technologist coverage.
Qualifications
- Prefer at least two years experience as Medical Technologist. May consider less experience for entry level position as determined by manager.
- Bachelor’s Degree - in Medical Technology or related field of study.
- LIC CLT Licensed Clinical Lab Tech - State is required. Must meet the State of Nevada requirement for national certification.
- Prefer MT (ASCP), but an equivalent national certification is acceptable. Preferably licensed as a General Supervisor of Licensed Laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Preferably licensed as a General Supervisor of Licensed Laboratory.
- Generalist experience with strong background in blood bank, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology / serology is desirable.
