Medical Assistant

We are seeking a for research participants enrolled in a longitudinal study of HIV infection in homosexual and bi-sexual men.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • With training provided by the study team, will also perform frailty measures (hand grip and walk), and other assessments as assigned by Clinic Coordinator.
  • Will also complete study forms.
  • Must be meticulous in documentation and in following established protocols for research examinations.
  • Prior HIV research experience a plus
  • Other duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with a PC.
  • Must be comfortable working with bisexual and homosexual men.
  • Must have the ability to accurately obtain and record detailed information.
  • Must have a friendly personality and positive attitude as well as the ability to interact with diverse populations.
  • Must be sensitive to the confidentiality of the study participants.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Certification / Registration as a Medical Assistant (e.g. CMA, AAMA, RMA, AMT, NAHP) required. If not currently certified / registered, must become certified / registered within 180 days (6 months) of date of hire.

Exam fees will be paid by the department. If a retest is required, associated fees are paid by the employee

  • Current CPR certification by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required
  • Must maintain MA and CPR certification / registration during duration of employment in this position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior research experience.
  • Experience using EPIC.
