Position Summary :
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Coding Auditor-Revenue Management (Outpatient Coder).
In this role, the successful candidate supports the system conversion process and works with ancillary departments to ensure timeliness of error correction.
Trains staff on coding rules and changes. Works with departments to ensure compliance with regulatory updates. Ensures coding and billing changes are addressed in the financial system as well as the ancillary systems.
Assists and supports the departments with coding training. Monitors the Error Charge Work List and Error Billing Work Lists and ensures timely resolution of errors.
Supports the coding and follow up of all new procedure requests. Monitors any coding solutions specifically related to the department.
Job Responsibilities :
Performs daily review of the Error Charge Work List and Error Billing Work List. Collaborates with departments to discover the cause of the errors and makes recommendations to correct them.
Performs ongoing monitoring and training.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Monitors work queues and assists with issue resolution or remediation activities. Ensures charge and diagnosis entry for clinical month end.
- Performs periodic reviews by service line to monitor accuracy and completeness of charge capture and charge reconciliation activities, assembles results and executes action items to improve performance.
- Supports the implementation of ICD 10 and educates and supports all coding initiatives.
- Performs charge capture training as new services are added, deleted, changed or revised. Validates coding for existing and new procedures.
Performs reviews to ensure processes surrounding these new changes have been implemented. Responsible for maintaining and updating department superbills or charge capture tool and clinical linkage.
- Performs a technical review of assigned departments charge data system and financial service catalog. Stays abreast of regulatory changes on a national and local level and disseminates billing and coding related correspondence to the departments.
- Coordinates the systems chargeable updates with managers.
Minimum Qualifications :
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree Business Administration,Hospital Administration, Information Technology (IT),Health Information Management (HIM), Clinical Informatics or related field.
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC). 1 - 2 years Hospital operations,Health Information Management (HIM), data base, or Information Technology ()T.
Strong communication (both verbal and written), analytical, problem solving, detail oriented skills. Knowledge of all diagnostic and procedure coding systems and proper application of ICD9-CM, ICD-10-CM, CPT, andHealthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) coding guidelines, rules, and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications :
Knowledge of basic anatomy and pathophysiology. Knowledge of inpatient and ambulatory surgical services coding. Knowledge of billing and other coding edits, as well as Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) local and national coverage determinations, and managed care billing regulations.

The Medical Record Coder will be responsible for working coding edits (Hospital & Professional) by adhering to CMS and payor guidelines (e.
g., medical necessity, bundled / unbundled, and non-covered services) Review and resolve all assigned work queues and adhere to productivity standards.
