THE PROGRAM

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Medical Assistant provides integral support to clinic operations within the 17th Street Testing, Treatment, and Care Clinics.

This position under the direct supervision of clinician, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse, may perform the following duties, but are not limited to :

  • Set up exam rooms prior to clinic sessions; ensuring all necessary supplies are stocked and available
  • Prepare, provide, and maintain patients' medical records / charts for clinician, nurse practitioner, or nurse
  • Assist nurse practitioners and doctors with examinations and other procedures relating to direct patient care
  • Perform and record information on patients' vital signs, vision screening, and venipuncture
  • Chart basic patient history, includes history of present illness or complaint, and past medical, family, and social history
  • Obtain, collect and label blood, urine and other specimens in accordance with regulations and patient policy; package and send specimens in the appropriate manner for transport to laboratories or storage
  • Venipuncture for lab specimens of blood, give subcutaneous or intramuscular injections and medications, administer medication orally, sublingually, topically, vaginally, rectally, or by providing single dose to patient for immediate self-administration
  • Perform and read routine lab tests such as urinalysis dipstick testing, urine pregnancy, hemoglobin, rapid HIV, and Syphilis tests
  • Provide information to patients relating to referrals, follow up appointments, test results, and e xplain and obtain necessary consents and authorizations
  • Monitor inventory of medical supplies
  • Clean / sterilize all used equipment, dispose of all specimens and waste according to health and safety guidelines
  • Ensure all documentation regarding tests, specimens, and supplies are completed and maintained in accordance with clinic procedures and requirements
  • Call in medication refills to pharmacy for prescriptions with no change to dosage or medication
  • Front office tasks including check-in / checkout patient registration, answer phone, schedule appointments and filing

This position also requires a valid certification as phlebotomist or certificate of completion of the course requirements for venipuncture and skin puncture AND a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) by date of appointment.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES

The ideal candidate will possess at least one year of Medical Assistant experience, which includes performing venipunctures, vaccinations, medication administration, and point of care testing.

Bilingual skills, specifically S panish and Vietnamese , are highly desirable. In addition, experience providing care and services to the uninsured and under-insured populations, including working with the following populations : people living with HIV, people diagnosed with an STD, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ+) individuals, substance use disorders, unhoused / unstably housed, and people with incarceration history, is also highly desirable, but not required.

In addition, the successful candidates will possess the following competencies :

  • Enters the patient room with the physician during patient visit to capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing electronic medical record applications.
  • Ensures medical record compliance by self-documentation attestation.
  • Updates patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information in the patient
  • Prepares and sends all documentation to provider for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific procedures.
  • Monitors the duration of basic lab results and screening procedures.
  • Brings patient care issues to physician's attention.
  • Documents patient care information using Practice Management System and Phoenix EMR system.
  • Must have experience obtaining prior authorizations and knowledge of processes.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding a PLUS.
  • Collect test results and lab tests results and make them available for the physician to review.
  • Triages and schedules patient exams as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Certificate of successful completion of Medical Assistant Program.
  • High school graduate or equivalent

EXPERIENCE

Minimum two years full-time clinical experience in a healthcare facility as a medical assistant required. Bilingual a plus and orthopedic experience a big plus (but not required)

Who We Need :

We're looking for a bi-lingual Spanish Medical Assistant to join our Clinical team. This role will report to our Director of Nursing.

Easy Health Medical Solutions completes Annual Wellness Visits for Medicare members / patients of primary care physicians, medical groups, and health plans we serve.

The Medical Assistant will help set up and perform testing for our comprehensive assessments which are compliant with the Annual Wellness Visit, in a home setting and / or in a clinic setting (depending on location).

Schedule : Monday-Friday 8a-5pm occasional Saturdays

Shift : Looking for 24 or more hours per week.

Compensation : $40 per completed visit

What You'll Do :

  • Clinical Support - perform complex and / or specialized patient-oriented testing procedures under the supervision of a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to ensure safe patient care.
  • HIPAA Compliance - maintain data security and patient privacy, using comprehensive understanding of protected health information and HIPAA requirements.
  • Professionalism - maintain warm, caring, and courteous behavior with the members and staff.
  • Member Satisfaction - make sure that the member is satisfied with the exam and overall visit.
  • Member Communication- maintain member privacy and courteous communication with patients and colleagues.

Who You Are :

  • Fluent in Spanish (Required)
  • Reliable transportation (Required)
  • Have at least 1-year Medical Assistant experience (Required)
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination and booster if eligible. EasyHealth will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements, and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance. (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers (AHA) or CPR / AE. (Required)
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program. (Required)
  • Experienced in an Internal medicine office performing vital signs, spirometry testing, finger sticks and urine dipsticks. (Preferred)
  • Possess a Phlebotomy certificate.
  • Comfortable using Telemedicine tools and working in an in-home setting (Required).
  • Proficient in use of computer, tablet, and mobile technology.
