Position Summary
The Medical Assistant supports the flow of patient care by providing excellent patient relations. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for greeting patients and checking out patients.
What you will be doing
- Provide general patient care services, including taking patient's vital information, specimen collections, intake registration forms, and conversing with patients to complete records
- Scheduling appointments and follow-ups
- Answering / fielding patient phone calls in a courteous and professional manner and oversee and ensure efficient turnover of patient rooms
- Receive payments from patients for services rendered
- Checking patients in and out
What you will bring to the team
- 2 years' experience in the medical field required, and gastroenterology experience preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPPA
- EMR system experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of basic Microsoft Office

POSITION SUMMARY : The Medical Assistant provides clinical service support in the On Lok health clinics, under the administrative direction and supervision of the Program / Center Manager or Nurse Manager (float positions only), and with clinical supervision of the Center Lead Physician.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Assist with the provision of clinic technical support services such as obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, collecting lab work, performing blood draws, blood glucose testing, skin testing, immunizations, and other tasks within scope of practice.
2. Collect and record clinical data into electronic health records; assist providers with data entry functions such as updating health maintenance records.
3. Schedule and coordinate clinic appointments, provide reminders to participants.
4. Assist with rooming and checking out of participants.
5. Prepares exam rooms, order and restocking of clinic supplies, sterilize / disinfect clinic equipment.
6. Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, abilities) :
1. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
2. Phlebotomy certification or experience is preferred.
3. One year of experience working with the elderly or frail population required.
4. Ability to work independently and as part of interdisciplinary team.
5. Bilingual ability may be required for specific assignments.
6. Physical requirements include visual acuity and the ability to lift / move up to 75 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds frequently.

Position Summary

Requirements
- One (1) or more years of experience as a qualified medical assistant
- Prior experience in plastic surgery is required
- Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures

Job Summary
The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting the delivery of health care services under the supervision of office manager.
Efficiently, effectively and warmly assist scheduled patients to the practice in a HIPAA compliant manner. This employee assists patients in the office by obtaining vitals and scheduling follow up appointments, tests or procedures as directed by physician.
Responsibilities & Duties
Opening and closing the exam rooms at designated times and have all exam room terminals / equipment operational at the start of business hours and shut down at close of business hours.
Rooms and completes patient vitals in a timely fashion.
Responsible for maintaining daily exam room inventory from administrative supplies to clinic supplies. Reports need for re-orders to Practice Manager.
Responsible for processing procedure reports for designated physician and follows through to completion as designated by established protocol.
Check out patient, schedule follow up appointment or procedure and collect payment.
Obtains authorizations for referrals, medication refills as needed.
Send and enter patient information paperwork to patients who do not use portal.
In some cases :
Set up and assist with hemorrhoid bandings.
Prepare capsule for Bravo and capsule endoscopy.
Administer the office capsules and download recorder data.
Instruct patients on the preps for procedures and sell prep bags.
Administer patient injections (Humira etc.)
Queue Management : Results, refills, inbound fax, outbound fax, scanning, Orders, Patient Portal Messages and general documents.
Maintains operations by following policies and procedure; reporting any needed changes.
Qualifications
At least 1-2 years in previous medical assisting experience or equivalent.
Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited school preferred
