We are seeking a professional full-time Medical Assistant for our physician offices located in Tucson, AZ. The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing clinical support to the physicians in the office.
The hours are Monday - Friday and will vary from 7 : 30AM- 5 : 00PM. (No Weekends or Holidays)
Medical Assistant - MA Responsibilities :
- Prepares exam rooms in the clinical area for patient care daily, including stocking of all necessary supplies.
- Escorts patients to exam rooms, taking the required vital signs and obtaining urine specimens; performing dip and automated urinalysis and microscopic preparation and review when indicated.
- Assists physician with the preparation / administration of Lupron, BCG, Eligard, Vantas, Viadur, and Mitomycin; assist / perform with office-based procedures (phlebotomy, bladder scan, urethral dilations, catheterization) as requested.
- Triage patient calls for pharmacy requests, test results, medical questions, and concerns as directed by the physician;
documenting outcomes in EHR.
- Assists in the maintenance of all logs and records for OSHA / MOSHA.
- Adheres to and follows sterilization and disinfection practices throughout the facility.
- Adheres to bio-hazardous or red bag waste policy and procedure for proper disposal of biomedical waste.
- As part of the requirements of your position, you are expected to travel to other sites within a reasonable geographic region.
- Perform other office duties as assigned by the manager.

EXTERNSHIP COURSE MANAGEMENT
Partner with the career service teams to match students to clinical sites that lead to externship-to-hire.
Conduct ongoing outreach to potential employers to build externship opportunities, develop and enhance work relationships, and facilitate student placement.
Provide externship orientation to extern site supervisors and students.
Determine the quality of learning opportunities and appropriateness of each externship site / clinic / medical office.
Supervise externship to comply with accreditation standards and College policy.
Monitor student externship course attendance to ensure all required externship hours are fulfilled.
Visit all externship sites during externship courses in a cadence outlined in the standards of accreditation.
Oversee the collection of surveys regarding the externship course :
Employer survey of externship process
Student survey of the site
Graduate survey
Act as externship liaison for the College and problem-solve challenges that arise before, during, or after the externship course.
Use technology and academic reports to manage the externship course.
Submit, timely, all required externship-related reports and forms to the academic manager and or career services teams.
Maintain student records of attendance and skills check-off forms.
Actively engage in retention activities document communication with students and externship sites.
Participate in and manage career fairs.
Adhere to and publicly support College policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum of a high school diploma; associate degree preferred.

Summary
Assist physicians with medical procedures in office. Responsible for phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Must be experienced with GYN ONC.
Primary Key Performance Areas
Responsible for performing proper quality control procedures before proceeding with patient testing.
Perform laboratory blood work.
Perform blood draws Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing. Perform technical laboratory procedures in a timely manner with accuracy and precision, meeting the standards of all accrediting and regulating agencies.
Prepare blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation.
Send outside labs to appropriate facility as dictated by patients insurance plan.
Maintain test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and checklists according to all regulatory agencies.
Will follow the AON patient I.D. policy and procedure with every patient encounter.
Obtain vital signs, height, weight, pain level and PHQ9 depression screening of patient as requested by physician and document in the Onco / EMR system.
Place patient in exam room and prepare for physician in a timely manner.
Receive lab reports via the telephone, lab system, or fax and document in the patients chart or Onco / EMR for physicians review.
Assist physicians with medical procedures : bone marrows, fine needle aspirate, paracentesis, and pelvic exams.
Schedule outside testing, referrals to other physicians and hospital admissions as ordered by physicians, if applicable.
Documentation : Thorough documentation in medical record chart of testing / treatment rendered to patients. Prepares encounter form to charge patient for services received in office or initials all steps in process in EMR for electronic superbill.
Documents all QC and QA corrective action.
Show physician critical blood counts according to guidelines.
Obtain all pertinent scan and CDs and prepare for physicians review.
Maintain adequate inventory of supplies. Place orders with purchasing as needed.
Initiate troubleshooting procedures when instrument malfunction occurs and contact central lab or instrument service company, if necessary.
Perform EKG testing where applicable.
Perform any and all duties required to keep laboratory in compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies. Must be able to perform compliance testing.
Must take the required number of CEUs annually to meet C.O.L.A. requirements.
Observe established safety guidelines and maintains cleanliness of the laboratory and equipment.
Comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patients rights, safety, billing, and collections.
Adhere to all AON and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Recovery Plan.
Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient information at all times.
Assist in training new employees to related job duties.
Will be expected to work at any AON location to help meet AON business needs.
Will be expected to work overtime when given sufficient notice of required overtime.

The CMA will provide assistance to radiology staff including radiologists, nurses and technologists in a fast paced team environment.
