Job Description
At OU Physicians -Tulsa, patients receive the latest medical advancements expected of a leading university clinic. The services and their experience are delivered by a dedicated team with diverse experience.
The Medical Assistant, under direct supervision of a physician or other medical personnel, performs routine patient care functions such as physician assistance, patient placement, testing, information gathering, nursing duties, chaperoning, supply maintenance, and scheduling.
May coordinate schedules of patients in an outpatient clinic and provide clerical assistance toward the smooth operation of the facility.
Position Information : Underdirect supervision of a physician or other medical personnel, performs routine patient care functions such as physician assistance, patient placement, testing, information gathering, nursing duties, chaperoning, supply maintenance, and scheduling.
Representative Duties :
Physician Assistance. Assists physician or other medical personnel in the examination process as required or necessary.
Patient Placement. Places patients in exam rooms. Drapes and positions patients for appropriate exams or procedures. Assists in restraining or controlling patients (infants, children, geriatrics, etc.).
Test Performance. Performs simple routine tests on patients such as audiograms, vision, spirometer, EKG, rapid strep, urinalysis, and urine pregnancy tests.
Information Gathering. Obtains and records vital signs including body temperature, height, weight, and blood pressure. Takes and documents complaints and patient histories including allergies, immunization histories, etc.
Maintains patient confidentiality. Receives and returns telephone calls from or to patients, pharmacies, etc. Obtains authorizations and referrals.
Nursing. Performs various nursing duties such as PFT and PT / INR testing and administration of injections.
Chaperoning. Chaperones examinations and patients.
Supply Maintenance. Responsible for stocking exam rooms, taking inventory, ordering supplies, and sterilizing instruments and / or equipment.
Scheduling. Makes scheduling arrangements with other healthcare professionals and facilities.
As Needed. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Job Requirements
Education :
High School diploma or GED or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
Experience :
6 months experience in Patient Care as a Medical Assistant or 6 months performing electronic order entry as a qualified ABR-OE.
Certifications / Licenses :
CPR Certified and / or BLS. Certified as a Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, or qualified ABR-OE, or ability to obtain the certification within 90 days of employment in the position.
Equivalent / Substitution : Will accept a student who has completed an internship / externship and graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program in lieu of required experience.

NRHS is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the float pool. New Float Pool Healers will be trained in both clinical and clerical duties, and be capable of functioning as a Clerk at the Check In / Out area of the clinic as well as helping in a clinical role as well.
The specialty clinic float pool team supports the NRHS Specialty Clinic Network which consists of 12 to 13 different clinics representing various specialties.
As a float pool healer, you will step into a clinic as needed and ensure that patients are roomed, vitals are taken, charts are completed, and that all patients have an excellent experience in NRHS specialty clinics.
