Mechanical Engineer III

We are hiring! We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer III to join our team. This position location is in Kirkland, WA, with the possibility of Hybrid or Remote work schedules within the US.

The Mechanical Engineer reports to our Chief Mechanical Engineer and is responsible for engineering design services in the energy and industrial processing sectors.

You will be an integral part of a team of multi-discipline engineers and designers working on upgrades to existing facilities and new projects.

The engineer may also support proposals and smaller projects.

  • Flexible in balancing workload and priorities across multiple projects with a commitment to safety.
  • Maintain and build strong professional relationships with colleagues and Clients.
  • Ability to perform clear calculations with schematics, references, and assumptions.
  • Ability to size equipment such as pumps, tanks, non-fired pressure vessels, compressors, boilers, heat exchangers.
  • Calculate pipe sizes for compressible and incompressible flows.
  • Basic knowledge of pipe materials, valves, relief valves and control valves.
  • Coordinating questions to / from equipment suppliers and reviewing submittal documents.
  • Potential occasional / infrequent travel to project site, other offices, or manufacturing plants

What will you contribute?

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering or similar degree from an ABET accredited college.
  • Ten (10) years or more working as an engineer.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Strong work ethic, Eagerness to learn, Supportive team player and Good Verbal Communication.
  • Experience creating flow diagrams and P&IDs.
  • Experience writing equipment specifications.
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow.
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.1 and ASME Section VIII.
  • Familiarity with TEMA, HI, HEI, CTI, NFPA and other equipment codes and standards.
  • Experienced with or desire to learn any or all : AFT Fathom; AFT Arrow; AutoCAD (P&ID); SmartPlant 3D.

Desired : experience with any of the following :

  • Knowledge of water treatment and or wastewater treatment.
  • Simple-cycle or Combined-cycle gas-fired power plant design experience.
  • Knowledge of the following Renewable energy, Hydrogen gas, Pipe stress modeling software : Pipe flow; Caesar II and Thermal plant modeling : Theroflex; GT Pro; Steam Pro.
  • Experience Working at a plant or jobsite.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and Fire protection systems.

Responsibilities

Draper is seeking a mechanical engineer for a role focused on electronics packaging. Specific responsibilities include :

  • Perform mechanical design and development associated with the physical arrangement of electronic circuits including assembly design, analysis, build, test, and documentation support
