Mechanical Engineer
As a Mechanical Engineer at DLR Group you will be responsible for the design of mechanical systems from schematics through construction administration on a wide range of building types.
As part of our integrated design teams you create buildings that elevate the human experience through design. You would be responsible for participating in the design process of mechanical building systems and preparing detailed and mechanical engineering design calculations and drawings to code.
The successful candidate will :
- Assist in developing project objectives, goals, and documentation policies.
- Develop HVAC designs from concept through completion of construction.
- Prepare engineering design calculations and mechanical system layouts.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports and narratives.
- Coordinate HVAC design requirements with architecture, structure and other disciplines.
- Support business development initiatives by assisting the RFP process and interview process.
- Actively engage in community and / or industry-specific organizations that will build the DLR Group brand.
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with direct client contact and fostering those relationships
- 8+ years of experience in a MEP firm working on systems for educational projects (K-12 and Higher Education) or Justice + Civic Projects,
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer designing HVAC building systems on complex projects.
- Professional Engineering license (P.E. / PE)
Preferred Qualifications :
- LEED Accredited Professional and previous experience participating in the LEED or other green rating system process.
- Experience and interest in sustainable building design.
- An appreciation and understanding of architectural design and how architects work and think.
- Experience with BIM (e.g. Autodesk Revit MEP) work flow.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Broaden the breadth and depth of your technical knowledge.

Requirements
YOU NEED :
- BSME or equivalent (MSME preferred).
- 5+ years of design and engineering analysis experience.
- Experience transitioning at least one complex electromechanical product from early concept into production.
- Working knowledge of designing molded, sheet metal and machined components.
- Proficient with SolidWorks (Creo a plus) and preparing engineering documentation per ASME Y14.5 for production release.
- On-the-job analysis experience in at least two of the following areas :
- Tolerance analysis
- FEA and / or CFD
- Strength of materials
- Heat transfer
- Shock and vibration
- Ability to work with teams in a fast-paced product development environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Hands-on performance in shop / lab skills is a bonus.
